    LMS troubled by files outside of scan folder

    Upgraded my LMS from 7.7.2 to 7.9 the other week. Since installation the server crashes every day. Everytime after image scaling complaints in the server log looking like this:

    2069: *** glibc detected *** /opt/ssods4/bin/perl: free(): invalid next size (normal): 0x056bb990 ***
    2068: [16-09-14 03:31:06.7905] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1311) Warning: [03:31:06.7886] Image::Scale cannot rotate, unknown orientation value: 56628 (/share/Multimedia/Bilder/Foton/2010/2010-07/IMAG0244.jpg)

    I can see why LMS is having trouble handling these pics since they're quite huge. What's bothering me though is that they aren't in my scan folder! I haven't scanned anything else but my music folder at /share/Multimedia/Music. QNAP path that is. Maybe it's NAS related but maybe some LMS savvy guy in general has a clue.

    How does LMS pick up those paths?

    Have you got shortcuts inside the music folders to the artwork? If so LMS is probably following them.
    You can turn off image file scanning on the Basic Settings page.
    VB2.4 storage QNAP TS419p (NFS)
    Living Room - Joggler & SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 -> Celestion F20s
    Office - Pi3+Sreen -> Sony TAFE320 -> Celestion F10s / Pi2+DAC & SB3 -> Onkyo CRN755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes
    Dining Room -> SB Boom
    Kitchen -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio)
    Bedroom (Bedside) - Pi2+DAC ->ToppingTP21 ->AKG Headphones
    Bedroom (TV) - SB Touch ->Sherwood AVR ->Mordaunt Short M10s
    Everything controlled by iPeng

    Yes, my first thought was that there must be some kind of peculiar connection to these images somewhere in my music folder. But hardly. The pics in the server log are random photos. No album art or anything music related. But image scanning can of course be the issue. I saw now that that was not even an option in earlier versions (right?). But still, the files aren't within the scanning path...

    I should also point out that I removed the SSOTS package from my NAS and reinstalled it to have some kind of clean installation with no old stuff messing things up. But there might be traces from a former scan, db, cache or whatever stuck in some corners of the Qnap that I don't know of...

    Whats in front of these errors?
    You could (imho should) change the startup settingsfile:

    Code:
    /etc/default/logitechmediaserver
    SLIMOPTIONS="--noimage --novideo"
    and do restart the lms

    Sorry for my lack of knowledge but is that a specific file I can get into?

    I wrote the The path & folder right on top of the settings

    That file should be called in your startup/service script.

    If you use the one thats deliveres with lms you might notice that part:

    Code:
    ## if you want to add additional options
    ## use /usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver --help
    ## for the supported options and place them
    ## into the configfile  /etc/default/logitechmediaserver

    # Read config file if it is present.
    if [ -r /etc/default/$NEWNAME ]; then
            . /etc/default/$NEWNAME
    elif [ -r /etc/default/$NAME ]; then
            . /etc/default/$NAME
    fi

    I think my start/stop script in this case would be the bin/sscctrl file but I'm not sure and I don't really know what to do with it. Sorry, but I'm afraid this is a little bit too complicated for me. Thanks anyway!

    Wait a minute...

    Noticed that I had a pre-installed Picture gallery plugin with the default path /share/HDA_DATA/ set. That would very much cover my photo folders. Still concerned though. I haven't scanned images what I'm aware of and if so final library would sum up considerably more files than expected. Briefly following the details line during scan I can't see that it goes through anything else than my music files in the accurate scan folder...

    Yes, that was the case. The images were there to browse in the Gallery plugin.

    I guess I've accidently scanned images by unticking that box without applying before scanning and the pre-set path to all my images in the gallery plugin kicked in.

    Or does that plugin scan images wether or not I have images ticked before doing a media folder scan?
