I have Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS running on a CuBox i4x4 which has an i.MX6 Quad processor.
I have installed several versions of the nightly LMS debian all builds 7.8.1, 7.9.0, 7.9.1 and each one gives the same issue that has been reported many times before "Logitech Media Server died. Restarting" continuously happening. In most of these post PERL is suggested as the problem. My perl version is Perl 5, version 18, subversion 2 (v5.18.2), which I gather from the forum posts is the correct perl verison.
So if it is not Perl then what else should I be looking for as causes for this continuous die and resuscitate situation?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
John

Try to run /usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver from the command line as root. What would that give you?

NOTE:
If you're running some unsupported Linux/Unix platform, please use the buildme.sh
script located here:

If 7.9 is outdated by the time you read this, Replace "7.9" with the major version
You should never need to do this if you're on Windows or Mac OSX. If the installers
don't work for you, ask for help and/or report a bug.

Oh, we don't have support for your platform and Perl 5.18. What's the
platform as found in Settings/Information? Maybe upgrading Ubuntu would
help?

In order for me to be able to give you a valid response you'd have to
answer my question first. That's why I was asking.

I tried upgrading ubuntu and it did not work out very well. Anyways, I installed a debian load that the manufacturer supports and when I loaded LMS it worked right out of the gate. Thank you for your responses as it got me to look at other debian loads available.
