It's not just with a turntable. If I play anything out, even my cellphone, the audio doesn't come nearly as strong as I'd hope.

But I like the idea of a pass trough preamp

Still, I would like to know how strong the signal can be and how bad/noisy it gets.

I did further testing, and with amplified output (small speaker level) out of an old tape deck, I can get suitable audio levels

So the issue is with the input level of the usb sound card

And the solution would be to preamp it to the machine.

I guess I'll be making a small monobloc soon.

Is that similar results to using the Behringer?

Is there a way to make the stream louder?

For comparison purposes, I used the phono into a solid state power amp from the 70s to prove the phono level to noise is acceptable.

Then I try to feed it trough the usb sound card (phono in Mic, headphones out to the same amp) - here I get a lower level - and some noise as I crank the output to hear the signal.

Then I connected the same amp to a piCorePlayer rasp 1b playing the stream, the output is even lower.

Tried to play the stream through a browser, the level is also much lower than I anticipated.

Is this caused by bad settings or just a bad usb capture device?

    Any help would be appreciated.
I'm using a line level input to the Behringer from an amp so the RIAA is being done by a separate pre-amp.
    The out level is fine.

    Thanks.

I connected a preamp between the phono and usb mic input to get good results. So that will be the way forward for me.

Now that is nice! How much is it? I can't find a UK supplier.

Anyone knows how to add a logo to the darkice/icecast2 feed? I'm stuck with the basic antenna logo in my players and I find it plain ugly...

Yes. You need to add the url as a favourite and then shut down LMS, edit favourites.opml to point at a suitable image file.

Its located in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs on my system
I dropped an image called phono.png into /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/HTML/EN/html/images

    Change
    <outline URL="http://x.x.x.x:8000/phono" icon="html/images/radio.png" text="Line In" type="audio" />
    To

    Thanks.

    That works great.
Is there a way to do the same when it is saved as playlist (m3u)?
