UPnP certainly has a lot of limitations compared to LMS. And then it
gets even worse depending on which implementation you're using. I doubt
many of them would even try to transcode, or allow LMS to transcode
    their streams.

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for the fast response.

So basically when using the remote libraries, the url is sent directly to the player (in this case squeezelite) and it's not processed by LMS as it would be the case when playing music indexed by LMS?

However, I do believe squeezelite can handle WAV natively without requiring any specific codecs so it should actually play WAV?

For WAV it depends on the headers and formats. Worst case is the WAV file contains nothing like that and then the player doesn't.know what to play.
FLAC or MP3 are easier here because they alway contain format information

BMF probably wouldn't work. But browsing by artists etc. IMHO should
work as always. That said: I don't use cue sheets (nor the remote
    libraray features really).

The browse wors as expected, is the playback that does not works.

If you look at the pictures, the song URL is: lms://something/download.flac, and the log says "_playersMessage (789) Problem: Can't connect to server for:: lms://1e58b0bf-4f70-4c37-8997-f3ad91ec8a73/music/25852/download.flac".

I believe we have two problems here:

    1. is not flac but wave,
2.when using cue files the URI is not enough, you should provide the 'anchor' to the start of the song.

Hope you could arrange it to work, if you need some help with cue, maybe I could help you there, just ask.

    no playback

    Hello,

It's a long time since I played with this feature, back in 2016 !

However, now I would like to use it again but can't succeed in playing a file....

I can access the remote library, it shows all the albums, but when I try to play a file, it doesn't play.
I have tried wit and without transcoding.

    Does it still work ?
Is there any special trick to use ?
    Am I getting old ?

    EDIT:
It's working again like a charm.
In fact the problem was that I had too much constraint over my network (squeezelite buffer settings)

    Best regards,
    Jean

    Browse only by artist?

I just discovered this and thought it could be an easy way to get access to the old music files I hadn't yet migrated from my old Mac Mini (which used to be my server in the Apple - Airplay universe). So I installed LMS on the Mac (which was a breeze, took me less than 2 minutes), and presto, all there.
Except that I can only browse by Artist, Album Artist, Years or Music folder.. Is there any way to also enable a browse by Genre option here?

Hmm... I certainly see Genres here. Are you browsing it in LMS mode, or
UPnP/DLNA? Is the server showing the teal LMS logo?

Have you checked your settings for AdditionalBrowseModes, in Settings->Player->AdditionalBrowseModes? The "Genre" option must be ticked for that menu-item to appear I think.
