Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)

Hi, I'm a new user; dug out my old Squeezebox Touch in the hope of integrating it with a bunch of chromecast speakers which I have. I have LMS 8.0.0 on a Synology DS213+.

Unfortunately I can't get the plugin working. It seems to be in a crash/restart loop. I've tried searching the thread but have not found a specific solution. Here is my log:

Do you have anything in the log of the plugin, not in the server.log

Hi Philippe. Very much appreciate your fantastic work. I have used CastBridge in the past but haven't been using it for a year or two. Decided this week, to re-subscribe to Tidal, triggering an update to LMS (version 8.0.0 - 1605619275) to get playback working. Then I decided to see if my old CCA would work with my Paradigm PW-Link. The PW-Link takes the optical output of the CCA, does room correction processing, then sends it out of it's own optical out.

I have a Raspi/picoreplayer that works fine with the PW-Link. When I substitute the CCA and use the LMS web interface to start playback, I can't get any sound, with the exception of when I hit play and the native beep indicates that it's active. On the other hand, I can run any Tidal app, connect to the CCA, and it plays perfectly.

I tried a suggestion from a few days ago to set transcoding to flac, but that didn't make a difference. Any thoughts on what to try next?

QUICK UPDATE: Decided to bypass the PW-Link and go straight to my miniDSP 4x10HD. Same problem.

Log is truncated so it’s difficult to say but it feels like the player never request the actual file, as if you have a firewall issue (which I don’t thing should happen with pCP. Maybe give me more log to start with

Just to make sure we are on the same page (my original post was overly complicated): I am having problems only with LMS playing back on my Chromecast Audio via the CastBridge plugin (v 1.42.0). LMS version is 8.0.1 - 1606118512. This does not have anything to do with my pCP, as I am trying to use my CCA instead of the pCP. Furthermore, I thought originally that it had something to do with the optical out (toslink) from the CCA, but then I tested the straight analog out, and it has the exact same problem (no playback). On the other hand, I can definitely cast from Spotify and Tidal directly to the CCA and get playback. Note that I used to have the CCA working a year ago, but only recently tried using it again.

Below is a log, where you can see I try playing two different tracks. I let each one play a bit, followed by a volume change. When I try to do the volume change, the track timer jumps back to 0.0 seconds. In fact, whenever I try any control like "repeat track", it resets the time back to the beginning. All the while, no audio is produced.

Just to clarify, my original post was confusing. I only have a problem with playback on my Chromecast Audio (CCA) using CastBridge 1.42.0 with LMS version 8.0.1 - 1606118512 (just updated). It has nothing to do with my piCoreplayer setup, as I am trying to swap it out for the CCA. I originally thought it had something to do with the optical out (Toslink), but have determined that I have no playback with analog out of the CCA. Also, I can connect to the CCA directly via Spotify or Tidal and get output.

Below is a log of me trying to play a track, changing the volume, and trying another track and changing the volume. Each time, after a few seconds into the track (no playback), if I try to up the volume, the track time resets to zero. In fact, if I touch any controls like "repeat track", the track starts over.

Very odd, as I had CastBridge working a year ago.

When I try to do the volume change, the track timer jumps back to 0.0 seconds. In fact, whenever I try any control like "repeat track", it resets the time back to the beginning. All the while, no audio is produced.

That's it. Thank you very much. For those who encounter a similar issue, one must go into Firewall settings and make sure there's an exception for squeeze2cast.exe. My particular problem is that although "Private" was already allowed, "Public" was not.

Maybe your network is not identified properly then. I would assume that your home network should be qualified ‘private’ and not ‘public’, no?
