    > Updating on a Synology is ... well ... different :-)

What's the process to create new builds? Could this be automated to keep
    up with the nightlies?

Done manually. I download the latest nightly. After that I merge the changes into all the packages one by one using Meld. Takes about 5 to 10 minutes per packages (15 packages).

I don't know is it could be done automatically. The spk is a container with some scripts and an info file which identifies the package, and the actual package. I don't have the knowledge to buils such a script, but the curent workflow is acceptable for me.

What merging needs to be done? Can't you just drop the latest build's files in place of the old files and be done? Are there any actual changes (code or custom binaries) you apply?

Most of the time it is 'dropping files, but not always, all files with a reference to SqueezeCenter or Synofix are merged.
Other than that, most binaries are custom but they don't change over time.

I can't use the install directories Synology is using and have a repo. If I would the packages wouldn't show correctly in the package center and it would inetfear with their own package. Thats why I had to change the installation directories and had to make some changes in the code itself. Unfortunately!

So, thats why I ended up doing things manually.
