Skip tracks, stop playback from network player

    Hi,

    I'm using:
    - Roon
    - squeeze2upnp that reports version: v1.64.0 (Jul 12 2021 @ 16:36:31) - although I'm pretty sure that I've installed version 1.64.1
    - Marantz ND8006

Basically after some initial configuration problems that setup works great on all media that I tried.

The only problem appear when I try to control playback from my network player:
    - pause/resume typically works fine:
    [16:53:12.307] _SyncNotifState:681 Salon: uPNP playing
    [16:53:16.997] sendSTAT:169 [00513F28]: STAT:[STMs] msplayed 0
    [16:56:23.273] _SyncNotifState:688 Salon: uPNP pause
    [16:56:23.273] sq_notify:608 [00513F28] unsollicited pause

    [16:56:40.007] _SyncNotifState:681 Salon: uPNP playing

    - STOP makes further playback impossible:
+ Roon stays in playing mode also the track doesn't progress
+ pressing PLAY causes only (without any effect in Roon or the player):

    - SKIP FORWARD is being ignored (also nothing in the log)

    - SKIP BACKWARD stops playback like with similar output in log like in the previous cases

    - There are also some scenarios (but I cannot reproduce them easily) when Roon keeps playing for hours after player switch off.

Are those a known limitations of DLNA or implementation or can I do anything to make it working?

    Regards,
    Piotr

Let me rephrase the question. Maybe it will become less scary without the logs

When you are using UPnPBridge with any musical server and playback devices with their own playing controls what is the result of pressing STOP/PLAY/PAUSE/RESUME/SKIP FWD/SKIP BACK buttons on the device?

I'd like to understand whether the behavior I'm observing is expected or not, and if not - is that Roon- or device-related problem.

    Crack after first Seconds

    Hello,

I have the following problem with the UPNP bridge:
Within the first few seconds of playing a track, I always hear a slight crack.

The client is KEF LS50 Wireless II and I mostly stream from Qobuz.

Anyone who had a similar problem and found a solution?

    Tom

I notice on the first post that replaygain doesn't work on passthrough mode. Is that the case for all dlna players eg Bubbleupnp or similar?
Does the bridge support dsd files if the renderer does?

It's true for all players. AFAIR, LMS strips out the mp3 header when sending the audio data. The slimproto "play" message sent to players contains the replaygain and an HTTP link where to get the audio data (with header stripped). So a normal player will use replaygain to X the samples. In the case of bridges, I have the replaygain but changing the volume of the player based on it is an odd thing that I'm not doing.

It works (not perfectly) to use local controls with LMS. Problem is that you use Roon which was not the original intention of the bridge and Roon lacks the CLI control interface that I use to forward these play/pause/next/prev commands to LMS. Roon is a partial emulation.
