I've uploaded another jivelite tcz to the pcp beta files area which I've tested with picoreplayer 2.06, 3.02 and 3.11.

There are 2 changes from the last build, but I created the package on my older build system to support pcp 2.06 as well.

Save/restore the selected Now Playing views. -Thanks Michael!
Default logging level now set to OFF.

    Code:
pcp bu # save pcp config

    cd /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/optional

    wget -O jivelite.tcz.md5.txt http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/picoreplayer/beta/jivelite_touch.tcz.md5.txt

    wget -O jivelite.tcz http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/picoreplayer/beta/jivelite_touch.tcz

md5sum jivelite.tcz # make sure the file downloaded correctly
    78cb7bb1ccdb52d47a37251270737294 jivelite.tcz

cat jivelite.tcz.md5.txt # does it match the line above?
    78cb7bb1ccdb52d47a37251270737294 jivelite.tcz

pcp rb # you must reboot!
NB: You must already have jivelite enabled for this to work.

    I pushed a change which would add a Settings/Display/Now Playing/Buttons
for Large Artwork... menu. There you can select which options to display
in that mode. Please make sure you only pick four. There's not enough
space for more than four. If you select more, only the first four would
    show.
    Thanks Michael,

I was playing around with your new piGridSkin yesterday and was wondering, if you removed the vertical separator between the button you might be able to squeeze an extra button in. I think I did see one of the skins doesn't have the vertical separators?? Just a thought.

I tried to test this myself but try as I may I couldn't trace what was happening because of the entanglement of skin code.

    regards
    Greg

They're 2px wide - I'd have to make the buttons smaller, too. Which
    button would you squeeze in?

What? You didn't get it the moment you looked at the first couple of
lines?!? :-). I remember that Ben always hated it, and wanted to
refactor it all. But he never got the resources to do it.

But true, with a little work I could try to squeeze one more button in
    there.

Adding a little more flexibility. It should now scale nicely for these three cases (4/5 buttons, 1 + volume bar).

    hi Michael,

That looks great, I hope it wasn't too much trouble.

    I like the extra functionality.

    Quick Question

Is there any plan to include Michael's lovely new skin (that doesn't sound right at all) into SqueezePlay ? I guess that is to Ralphy.

    Michael,

I know this isn't simple, but I thought I'd throw the idea out there. Planting a seed.

The HDSkin skin has the code to select one of multiple screen resolutions, where HDGridSkin doesn't. I assume this is because trying to accommodate screen layouts with differing resolutions requires careful planning up front and probably 2 or 3 versions of different scaled graphics. I assume svg graphics are not supported in this environment?

Looking through all the skin coding, it looks like a vast amount of work which each skin having some unique features. I can see why Ben wanted to clean up the structure.

I can see the day when other RPi screen resolutions are just as popular as the current official 800x600. This will result in someone taking piGridSkin and modifying it to suit. Then another....

    regards
    Greg

    Something like this?

I've indeed done some hacking around this idea... but it would require some more re-factoring of the Joggler/PiGrid skins to really make it shine. Hacking up the larger menu is relatively easy. But all the Now Playing screens would require tweaking, too. And that's quite a bit of work. You might have seen that Triode's HD skins feature a rather basic Now Playing display...

We tried, but there are too many changes required to the base squeezeplay C code to support the grid skins that it was abandoned.

I will not be including the piGridSkin in squeezeplay.

Is it working in Jivelite for Windows / OSX etc as opposed to Squeezeplay ?

EDIT. I have answered my own question. Yes it is !!
