My player doesn't show up onmysqueezebox.com but I have apps..

As Pippin said: don't do this. It's asking for trouble. Not only for
you, but for some fellow SB user, too.

And as I said before: what you're seeing can happen if a player's mac
already is registered, and/or if it's using a UUID which does already
exist. Most software players don't use a UUID. Therefore duplicates are
    very likely.

    > Is this something new that mysb.com is rejecting MAC addresses outside
    > this range?

    No.

    > I imagine that there would be a lot of people running
    > non-logitech hardware that would run into problems like this.

The longer, the more. In particular the VB case you mentioned, where
many players are sharing the same fake MAC address.

Bought a brand new RPi today and installed the latest (7.9) Squeezeplug. Installed all the defaults, LMS 7.8 and squeezelite. Made a new mysqueezebox account. Did all this from a whole different network environment with the Pi in the DMZ. Can't register the player. I'm starting to wonder if someone out there maliciously scripted a way to register millions of MAC addresses so they couldn't be tied to another account. I've done this exact same proceedure dozens of times in the past year and never had a problem until now (last week).

Update: I can get a brand new vortexbox working with a 3 year old account. Players shows up in mysb apps show up and play. I remove the player and try to tie it to a new account (4 days old). The player DOES show up in mysb but the apps tied to this new account DO NOT show up in my gui.

I am having the same issue. Here's what I've found:

    - SqueezeLite players no longer register to mysqueezebox.com. An error is returned saying that the UUID is null during the HELO message.
    - SqueezePlay players register (because they do include a UUID in the HELO message), but the apps don't show up in the LMS. I suspect that there is a MAC address range check as posted in this thread.

Ive seen these issues start at the end of last week as well.

I have done some more testing and here's what I got:

Bought iPeng. Fantastic piece of software BTW.

I'm running out of hardware I can have all running at the same time. I went back to a test build that I made last week with a player 00:04:20. Player added to mysb but no apps in LMS. Today, I started over. Fresh OS re-install. LMS 7.7.4 squeezelite 1.6 with my hardware MAC. Tried to add the player. A player showed up in mysb! But it has the wrong MAC address displayed. I checked my notes and indeed the MAC showing up here is the one that I attempted to register last week. Weird. Still no apps in LMS. Official SB android app didn't see anything. iPeng didn't see any apps.

Before I chalked this up as another failed test, I went and reconfigured squeezelite with that original 00:04 address I started with last week. Still no apps in LMS or squeezebox android app, but iPeng sees apps! iPeng can play my the apps...well, that's something.

Next I tried to move this setup to another mysb account. Nope. No player will register using any combination of MAC addresses, even the one that was previously successful with the first account. I made sure that it was removed from the previous account. Went back to the original account and blam, added it back just fine with the 00:04. So now it seems I'm stuck to this account with this hardware...

Moving devices between MySB accounts is prone to failure.
Is this iPeng 8 or iPeng Classic?

@Michael, if you read this: could there be an issue with the player registration in 7.7.4?

    Ah, ok, I guessed so.
iPeng Classic uses a non-standard way to retrieve the My Apps menu. It will get a menu generated on the server instead of on MySqueezebox.com which means that for _some_ services this works even if your player is not correctly configured.
I still would not rely on it, it can break any time, it's a misconfiguration.

Usually the content of the "My Apps" menu is being created on MySqueezebox.com based on the player configuration.

No, LMS is not the problem.

I guess it's time for some more information... First of all: I'm really
sorry for what has happened. It's not what I intended to achieve with a
small change I rolled out last _Friday_ (why people were seeing it
before that day, I don't know). I only wanted to get rid of errors about
duplicate MAC addresses that were flooding out log files. Unfortunately
I still have to learn about all this infrastructure is working.

The underlying problem though is the fact that all your players out
there indeed do create a flood of registration attempts with duplicate
MAC addresses. Eg. Vortexbox is using some not so random invalid MAC
addresses for its players which are identical across all installations.
Some people are using faked SB MAC addresses etc. I'm surprised this
    hasn't caused more problems before.

This wouldn't be that bad if those players where sending a unique UUID
in addition to the MAC address. But most don't send any at all.

I've talked to Triode about this, and I think he's trying to come up
with a solution. But I can't say exactly if and when he'll have a fix
    for this.

For the future I think we should try to fix LMS not to depend on a
player being registered on mysb.com. That requirement sounds wrong to
me. And it's not in Logitech's interest to see a need for every player
out there to be registered even if it's not really using mysb.com. I'm
going to see what I can do.
