24/88.2 SACD Flac files playing at double speed SBT + RN102

Hi everyone, new here so please be nice

I have some 24/88.2 SACD-ripped Flac files that sometimes won't play correct. Occasionally they will be played back at what seems to be double speed while also sounding very harsh...

Other files will play fine, e.g. mp3, 16/44.1 flac and even other hi-res files will play fine like 24/96 or 24/192, even non-SACD ripped 24/88.2 files will play fine but when I go back to any 24/88.2 SACD rip, I get the same issue. This doesn't happen all the time though, but it's still pretty annoying when it does and I have no idea why.

My Squeezebox firmware is 7.8.0 r16754, it's connected via LAN, through a 5-port gigabit switch to a ReadyNAS RN102 running LMS 7.8.0

Could it be something to do with LMS doing something it's not supposed to be doing? Anyone else experienced something similar?

Any help, info or direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Laszlo Folgerts, The Netherlands

@Mnyb: thanks for the quick reply. It's Flac. Or did you mean something else?

    Nope thats it a

24/88.2 flac is it then , it does not matter if they originally was from a SACD.

However i recomend not to use the maximum compression in flac -5 is good enough .

Do you transcode to pcm/wav ?

Do you synk with a player that dont support 24/88.2

I happens with certain 24/88.2 flac files. As of yet, only the ones that were ripped from SACD.

Non-SACD 24/88.2 files have no issues, which is weird, but true.

Also, the files I just had issues with, now play fine again. As I said, it happens on occasion...

And no, I haven't synced with any player either...

That's why I hinted on the encoder settings what is the encoder settings for your SACD rips , what do you use to make those files ?

And do you let your squeezebox Touch decode the flac or do you the server setup to do it ( you can alter that in the file types setting )

Ehm, let's just say that I didn't make those rips myself, I let "someone else" do that for me...

As for the decoder settings, I have everything unchanged in the file type settings on the server.

I also use an external DAC with EDO through USB, which I forgot to mention... so I guess that's where all the decoding would take place or is there more to it than that?

    Thanks,

    Laszlo

As these are lossles you can reencode them yourself .

How does it behave on analog or spdiff and ona non EDO Touch ?

I haven't had the chance tot test that yet, because It happens quite random. But if it happens again, I'll see if I can switch output.

Ok, it just happened again. I played an album(24/88.2 FLAC SACD rip) and it played back at double speed. I hit "next" to play the next track, same thing.

I went back, selected an mp3 and then another mp3, then went back to the album again and now it plays fine. I really don't know what's happening here...

Haven't had the chance to switch outputs, though...
