    Didn't you ask me to
add library_id to the status query in order to allow you to implement
your own menus? Now please don't stop half way.
Sure, but I wanted to be able to _understand_ what your menus do. That's all I ever ask of you on an API level: make transparent what LMS is doing with menus. It's what we perpetually discuss and this is just one more example.

Thanks for what you did, I really appreciate it, just wish I had a bit more time to actually take advantage of all the possibilities.

probably write my own q'n'd plugin where I can copy/paste SQL to define
libraries. But I won't try to build a nice UI.
I guess people who are happy with a technical user interface have found the Custom Libraries plugin I've already done. It's basically a version of my existing Multi Library plugin adapted to work with the new features in 7.9.

Any intend to add SQL,Custom Browse support ?

It will of course only work with latest 7.9 beta version of LMS.

To install the Custom Libraries plugin you need to setup an additional repository in LMS Settings/Plugins (unless you already have my testing repository configured):
    Code:
    http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/svn/repository/trunk/testing.xml
Then select to instal "Custom Libraries" plugin.

It's a beta version and there are still stuff left to do and probably lots of bugs, but it allows you to:
    - Setup libraries with a lot of different parameters, you do this under the "Extras/Custom Libraries" section on the main page of LMS. Configuration will likely later be moved to settings menu in a later version.
    - It creates a menu under My Music for each library if you have select the "Show in home menu" checkbox of the library configuration.

It's not yet supported by Custom Browse, SQL Playlist and Custom Skip plugins, but this will likely come in a later version if there is a demand.

I'd especially appreciate feedback regarding which parameters people wants to use to setup libraries and what kind of customisation possibilities you want in the browse menus. For example, is there a need to make it possible to enable different sub menus for different libraries ?
May I ask if you have any plan to add SQL support for Custom Library in 7.9 ?
As I currently only can use Custom Skip in my SQL to filter some songs,
but that make me Logitech Media Server stop working quite often, maybe my station is not enough performance or library too large.
    thanks

Just to know, do you think add user management to LMS will be to hard to be real ?

For example i've got my own songs, my girlfriend too and we've got some songs in common. I can use sub library but it isn't very easy.

If my girlfriend used a squeezebox with her own sub library i must remember to change this sub library to mine.

If we've got use management, i can log into squeezebox using my name and it automatically use my sub library.

Nope, this is not going to happen. You don't seriously think entering a
username on a device is simpler than selecting a library entry from a menu?

Yes right i didn't think about physical player

So i creat two sub library using custom libraries. Is it possible (maybe plugin dev) to select sub library in one click in library views ? Or maybe add entries in menu to active sub library directly ?

Is there an example plugin that utilizes this support? Excuse me if it's been discussed in the past, as I'm somewhat lost now when it comes to multi-libraries and sub-libraries and browse modes.

Do I understand correctly how this is intended to work? You would select a library and then when browsing My Music you would see exactly the same browse structure, but it would be targeted only at the library chosen. Is that correct?

In the different user interfaces, where/how do you choose the current library? Is it just another level of hierarchy, or is it done some other way? What I mean by another level of hierarchy would be something like:

    My Music
    - Library
    -- John's Music
    --- Album Artists
    --- Artists
    --- Albums
    --- (etc.)
    -- Mary's Music
    --- Album Artists
    --- Artists
    --- Albums
    --- (etc.)

Are these libraries just subsets of the master library, or can they point to different locations and be independent of each other?

A user management system might also include allowing different options for different users. For example, different thumbnail sizes, different menu structures, different favorites. Perhaps also limiting the user to control specific players.

If we have user management ( which is not going to happen, noted) users could be selected by a meny on the player/controller not painstakingly entered letter by letter .
The initial user setup can be via some settings menu in the web-UI and can be elaborate ,as its hopefully don't used very often . If you change spouses kids etc very often you got problem no LMS UI will ever solve

And yes a user could differ in any way which players which music folders which sub libraries which services his/hers own mysb.com account ( next snag same player on different accounts ) .
Maybe a common mysb.com account would be the natural piont where this stops ?
