    Wow, thank you!
Since I run squeezesvr.exe via service, I added the parameter in the ImagePath section in the registry. Since the "My SqueezeBox.com" tab is now missing in the settings of the Web UI, it seems to work.

    Another question:
I found a lot of client entries in the server.prefs file with unknown/oudated MAC addresses. Maybe these are the entries of further players which have been replaced/sold or SqueezePlay instances I ran some years ago. Do these entries matter and should they be removed when using LMS without the "--nomysqueezebox" parameter?

    Thanks
    Stefan

Its just player preferences . But you could tidy up on you mysqueezebox.com account some of those players are probably there too. It would ease the load on the service.

Again strange errors in the server.log:

[16-10-11 08:26:02.2868] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (131) Error: Select task failed calling Slim::Web::HTTP::sendStreamingResponse: illegal file descriptor or filehandle (either no attached file descriptor or illegal value): at /<C:\PROGRA~2\SQUEEZ~1\server\SqueezeSvr.exe>Slim/Networking/IO/Select.pm line 134.

    What goes wrong here??
Although these events, LMS is still fully working.

This guy here obviously has "my" problem as well: http://forums.slimdevices.com/archiv.../t-102991.html

Seems to be a problem of the Windows version of LMS.

LMS crashed again! I really get crazy with this stuff...
After years without any problem, LMS gets more and more unusable for me.
I did a complete CLEAN install of the latest nightly with only the default plugins on my w2k12r2 server, cleared up all LMS settings and logs before, changed the switch for testing - the whole work was in vain.
After playing fine for about two days, LMS stopped working again. Strange entries in the LMS server log appeared- see attached log, no events in any of the Windows logs. The Windows server itself up and running, Internet connection OK, other services like Serviio, etc. absolutely NO problem. Restarting the LMS service immediately solved the problem until it will appear again. BTW: the Web UI didn't even open on the server console while other webs like serviio worked.
In the meantime I spent plenty of hours for investigating this annoying issue and I have no more ideas what this is caused by.
Anybody out there with a brilliant idea?

    7.9 Problems/Bugs

Trust me when I say it must be something else in your system which
changed. LMS didn't see many changes recently. And your case seems to be
pretty isolated. So my bet is an update in some other software you're
    running is causing the problem.

Try to get rid (not just disable) eg. Kaspersky, any other software you
don't really, really need. Or set up a VM with the same configuration
you have on your main system, then go from there.

The repeatedly logged issue most likely stems from some client software
polling LMS for status information. This could be the web UI, or some
mobile app. Try to shut them down (like: really, not just backgrounding
in case of a mobile app). All of them.

And again: the screenshot you posted of the player list imho doesn't
look "normal". It's using some fixed-width font. Where does it come from?

Do you have any other system (software or hardware) interacting with
your LMS, other than the five players?

You can get rid of far more than just non-default plugins. Most or all of the default plugins are unnecessary. I don't even remember which ones are enabled by default any more. One that's really good to get rid of is UPnP/DLNA, unless you actually need LMS to function as a UPnP server. Go down the list, read the descriptions, decide which ones you absolutely can't live without, get rid of everything else.

Try that first, but if this is something that mysteriously happens after LMS has been running for a couple of days, you could also try restarting LMS nightly. Create a small batch file on your server and use the Windows task scheduler to run it in the middle of the night.

    Code:
    @echo off
    setlocal
net start | find /i "Logitech Media Server">nul
if not ERRORLEVEL 1 net stop "Logitech Media Server"
    net start "Logitech Media Server"

    Dont use that small batch!

if a party is going on and the players should play *!
    If a import /scan is running ""

and its very poor (using setlocal even when there is no usage for set and so on)

If you were to use this, obviously you'd schedule it when there's nothing going on. For example, if you do a nightly rescan at 5AM (using the Rescan Music Library plugin), schedule the server to restart at 4:50AM.

It's something of a last resort, in any case. I would think that one of the few things that would cause LMS to become unresponsive after several days of use might be if memory usage got out of control. That can sometimes happen with misbehaved 3rd party plugins. Getting rid of the bad plugin would be the best course of action, but a periodic restart might help.
