    Presumably because the folder didn't exist it wouldn't know where to create the database.

    LMS will create the cache folder if it doesn't exist. There's no "correct" folder. That's what the pref is for ... so you can change it if you like.

    I can't get 7.9 starting on OSX 10.6.8.

    [14-05-22 19:49:08.7443] main::init (368) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.9.0, 1400659950, Wed May 21 21:01:20 PDT 2014) perl 5.010000

    LMS 7.8.1 has been running fine on the same machine. Any ideas for workarounds?

    7.9 Problems/Bugs

    Hmm... I'm developing on OSX myself and haven't seen this issue yet. Are
    you using any 3rd party plugins?

    Could you please open
    /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/Slim/Utils/Misc.pm
    in TextEdit, go to line 840 and change the ISWINDOWS to ISMAC and try to
    start again?

    Thanks, that helped. Now the server is starting up and running ok.

    Noticed that there was bug #441 mentioned in the code at that spot?

    Code:
    	# We only want files, directories and symlinks Bug #441
    	# Otherwise we'll try and read them, and bad things will happen.
    	# symlink must come first so an lstat() is done.
    	if ( !$hasStat ) {
    		lstat($fullpath);
    	}

    	return 0 unless (-l _ || -d _ || -f _);

    	# Make sure we can read the file, honoring ACLs.
    	if ( !main::ISMAC ){
    		use filetest 'access';
    		return 0 if ! -r $fullpath;
    	}
    	else {
    		return 0 if ! -r _;
    	}

    	my $target;

    	# a file can be an Alias on Mac
    	if (main::ISMAC && -f _ && (stat _)[7] == 0 && $validRE && ($target = pathFromMacAlias($fullpath))) {
    		unless (-d $target) {
    			return 0;
    		}
    	}

    7.9 Problems/Bugs

    Ok, I disabled that check for OSX as well as Windows. While it's working
    fine on Mavericks, there seems to be an issue on older OSX versions.
    Thanks!

    Not sure if this is a bug or my own ineptitude but when I try playing a song from an album it plays the whole album starting at that song. I have the players set to play only selected song. This does not happen if I try it from the web interface only from the player.

    EDIT: I see now I have to press the + button and select play from there

    I thought that the web interface was the only interface that completely ignores the 'Play other songs in album or directory' player setting. I thought all of the other interfaces should only queue and play the one song. What is the player model?

    There's a 'Destructive Touch-to-Play' setting that appears to affect this behavior. When I test in SqueezePlay with 'Play only selected song' and 'Do not defeat' set for the destructive setting, it plays only the selected song.

    I hope this is the proper thread for my issue.

    First off, thank you Michael, and everyone else who is keeping up the great work to keep LMS up and going.

    I think my issue is actually with 7.8/7.8.1 but it is fixed with 7.9. I'm hoping you can port whatever fix made it into 7.9 into a nightly of 7.8.1.

    I'm running a Raspberry Pi with piCorePlayer/Squeezelite, and this old bug seems to have reared its ugly head: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16256

    I cannot seem to fix it or solve it with any troubleshooting. I updated to 7.9, and it seems OK! Problem is, I really don't like 7.9 and the Album/Album Artist menu sort stuff, and I'd generally prefer to stay with something more stable than 7.9.

    Thanks again, and I'd love a response if this suggestion is at all possible :-)

    You can have 7.9 work exactly like 7.8 and previous versions. The new features have been enabled in 7.9 mostly so that they're more visible and so people will test them.

    First, go to Settings > My Music and set 'Browse Artists' to 'Use single, configurable list of artists'. Hit the 'Apply' button. Then go back up and make sure you set the options as you like, then 'Apply' again. Then go to Settings > Plugins and disable 'Additional Browse Modes' and restart LMS.

    If you want to keep it stable, just don't do nightly updates.
