That's a feature provided by the Music & Artist Information plugin, not
the Gallery. Please give it a try. And let me know if you still want to
have the Gallery. I can give you access to it.

    7.9 Problems/Bugs

Here's a fairly significant new problem. I've updated to the latest rev of 7.9 and removed the tweak database plugin. I stopped the server, deleted everything in the cache, then restarted. The server fails to scan the library and scanner.log shows the following:

    Code:
    [14-05-10 02:44:33.7133] main::main (202) Starting Logitech Media Server scanner (v7.9.0, TRUNK, UNKNOWN) perl 5.014001

[14-05-10 02:44:35.1040] Slim::Utils::DbCache::_init_db (275) Warning: DBD::SQLite::db do failed: SQL logic error or missing database
cannot VACUUM from within a transaction at C:/Program Files (x86)/Logitech Media Server 7.9/server/Slim/Utils/DbCache.pm line 243.
Delete the file C:\ProgramData\Squeeze\70\cache\artwork.db and start from scratch.
[14-05-10 02:45:08.0571] main::main (298) Warning: Issuing rollback() due to DESTROY without explicit disconnect() of DBD::SQLite::db handle dbname=C:\ProgramData\Squeeze\70\cache\artwork.db at C:/Program Files (x86)/Logitech Media Server 7.9/server/scanner.pl line 298.

I can manually run a full wipe and rescan after this and the library is scanned successfully, with scanner.log showing no errors.

Thanks a lot for that report! Hmm... might be the scanner is launched before the server is opening that file for the first time. Will fix this asap.

I haven't been able to reproduce this issue. I removed all *.db files
from the cache folder, started LMS, scanned without any problem. I still
re-arranged the statements in that area a bit. Could you please try to
        reproduce? Thanks!

Do you see any related errors in server.log around the same time? And you are running from the source, aren't you?

No, just the usual messages when started with no database.

Yes, I'm running from the source. Just to be sure it wasn't another oddball issue with running the Perl code as a Windows service, I tried it both as a service and a user process. Same results.

FWIW, the latest 7.8.1 has no problems starting and scanning with an empty cache.

Not trying to hijack tis thread, but I'm unable to run a 'changed & new' scan, however a 'clean & scan' completes succesfully. (And about 15 min. faster than before (about 52.000 tracks)

Are you using any 3rd party plugins, iTunes?

Lots of third party plugins, no iTunes however. Maybe some of Erland's plugins?

I just upgraded to 7.9 from 7.8.1 today (Windows 7). My first attempt at a rescan (just to test -- hadn't added any new music) resulted in exactly this problem with the same log entries. I let it run for awhile before killing the server and scanner processes. After restarting, I did a complete clear and rescan -- it worked fine. I then tried another "new and changed" rescan, and it completed without incident this time. Gremlins, I suppose.

EDIT: I was mistaken -- it was a Playlists-only scan that completed properly. I am now running a new/changed scan and it has hung again. Same log entries as yours. It hung on a different file in the "Discovering files/directories" step this time, FWIW.
