Well done for remembering where you hid it.
Somewhere I am sure I had a CD drive with USB connector that I salvaged. I decided I'd like to connect it to a Raspberry Pi to see if it works but ... can't find where I put it. Did find an extra Raspberry Pi that I had forgotten about though.

    An another Transporter saved !

This PSU works as a replacement for the original PSU used in the Transporter:

    Here's the reference:
    https://www.meanwell.com/Upload/PDF/...PM-30-SPEC.PDF

No soldering involved but you need to remove the original connector.
I used double face tape to fix the PSU on the chassis.

Cool. It's great to see how many people can now restore their precious Transporters easily

PN me if your Boom / Classic / Transporter display has issues!

    mftech,
I really like your suggestion since it eliminates the marginal PS altogether. That said, JoeMuc2009's solution is as cheap as you can get - 4-5 caps replaced and mounted off-board to alleviate the heat issue.
I'm torn but I'm going with the new replacement Meanwell PS (MPM-30-5ST) so I never have to think about it again. ~$20US from Digikey or Mouser makes it a no-brainer for this stateside transporter owner.
Thanks to both of you for all the legwork!!!

Make sure that the polarity of the DC is respected.

You saved my day. Bought a second hand transporter where power unit was repaired. After opening I found a 5v 1A wall socket power supply. I think the meanwell is a fa better choice so I ordered one and will mount it asap. Thanks for sharing you're findings!

That's the post I followed. Power supply ordered and now wait for delivery.
Since the original connectors are lost I went for the meanwell supply. Enough current hopefully good specs compared to the original. Anyone a glue how the technical specs (beside voltage and current) compare to the original power supply?
