    slimserver 6b2 scan problems, again

Hello. I had the 3-08-2005 nightly version 6 running, finally, and
decided to try the new beta 2. Hmm...

When scanning the library with --d_info --d_scan --d_sql, I see the
scan fail after a few minutes on an ogg file:
    ....
    2005-03-19 11:46:59.6711 Updating cache for:
    file:///home/e-smith/files/ibays/mp3/files/Black%20Crowes/By%20Your%20Side/05-Only%20A%20Fool.ogg
    2005-03-19 11:46:59.6750 Trying to load Slim::Formats::Ogg
Use of uninitialized value in subroutine entry at
    /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/Encode.pm line 154.
    Segmentation fault

    The failure is repeatable.

I have always had problems getting version 6 to scan, but the 3-08
nightly did work. Nothing has changed with the library itself, and
5.4.x scans and plays it fine.

    What am I missing here?

Kirk - this is a problem with the Perl build on the SME Linux distribution.

What version of SME are you using? Michael Herger is running SME Linux 6.0
with no issues under perl 5.6. I assume your version of SME is newer than that.

Does the process leave behind a core file?

Hmm.. so a 6.0 build did work previously. Ok. I'll contact you offlist.
