I don't have any Apple stuff myself, but you should probably have a look at Owntone (previously called forked-daapd). Your iPad should be able to work with that out of the box.

  • Can't say. It will be reading some number of disk sectors, ideally some power of 2 and either equal or larger than the disk block size. The amount of seconds that translates to will depend on the compression factor and can vary between successive reads. The main point here is that you really should...

  • I don't think LMS reads the entire file, unless of course the file format you use is not streamable. The main issue with USB portable drives however is that these by default are 'green' drives, aimed to power down when not in use which the internal detection mechanism may decide on as quick as ~8 seconds...

  • Interesting. Did not spot this in the change list for 8.3. Would have saved me the trouble of creating the build for Media_Scan that I had been postponing for years for my target system.

  • AFAIK there have been no vital changes to any of the OS specific modules between 8.0 and 8.3, just some minor changes to Audio::Scan for handling files that you most likely don't have. I'm thus fairly certain you can upgrade your system to 8.3 by grabbing the NoCPAN version and merging that with your...

  • Seems to me you require some kind of integration with a home automation system that can e.g. send radio signals (433MHz/866MHz) or tuya commands. I think there may be one or two that have some support for LMS but I can't really tell if their interface is something you would want to use rather than either...

  • I commented this before. Since practically every NAS uses Perl for administrative functions there is no reason whatsoever why you couldn't make LMS run on any of them. Really the only barrier is that LMS persists in including commonly used modules which causes version conflicts with NAS management software....

I believe I did say my thought. I dislike the layout and I particularly dislike the texts flying around on the screen. To the point of the incorrect button text that has since been altered, clicking 'New topics' resulted in an overview of topics that I knew already existed during my previous visit (like...

  • I believe there used to be a licensing issue with HMAC prohibiting this to be included in binary distributions. It is possible that some components in your system still obey this former restriction thus causing this algorithm to not be supported while at the same time other components may be configured...

Apart from the absolutely horrible layout could you please change the incorrect link title 'New Topics' to 'New Posts' so that it reflects the intended search result?

Not sure what everybody is complaining about too small font. To me this new layout is pretty hurtful to the eyes and it actually works better for me to condense the page which makes it somewhat bearable. I would really appreciate a user setting allowing me to select the 'classic' CSS.
