Wow - brilliant!!!!! So, one independent battery for the Touch, with the Speaker sitting on its own integrated battery? Looks very neat, for "special occasions". And of course the Touch could be connected to a big LMS sitting on a server, assuming it's in range......

We were discussing that possibility in another nearby thread ....... and we were unsure a) whether it would work, or b) how to actually wire it ......
Ideas?...

Idle curiosity, really ....... When the Radio is problematic (WiFi 6 issues) but is sometimes used by the family as a battery operated unit, I could imagine a battery Touch wired to a battery speaker. Portability as such is no the issue - there are some listening locations outdoors that don't easily...

External Battery For Touch ?
Anyone know of an off-the-shelf rechargeable battery pack that would reliably power a Touch for a few hours?...

My pass-through worked - and continues to work - fine; and others have reported the same. Do you by chance have another SB Radio power supply to try? It should work, and it's puzzling (and no doubt annoying!) that it hasn't worked for you.
As it happens the physical positioning of the...

Well, the fingers are broken as well as well-aged (and only repairing themselves slowly....)! The eyesight might get better - I'm having a cataract op at the end of this month!
A "compromise" might be that, if the radio card does lie towards the back of the unit, and is separate...Last edited by agbagb; 2023-03-19, 14:08.

I'm sure this must have been asked and answered before (though I can't anything......) - it is feasible to simply replace the Radio's wifi card? On the YouTube disassembly video, there's a plastic wall behind the control / screen panel he takes out, and I'm imaginging the existing card is behind that.........

I'd not seen that video before..... It has me a tad puzzled - if all he did was to use contact cleaner spray down into the face of the 2 rotary assembies (Volume and Menu), could he not have done that with no more disassembly than removing the knobs? AFIKS, taking the Radio apart, while interesting,...

I thought about b) as well - let us all know how you get on! And a) is an interesting thought! I guess you're saying, can the SB battery power the Vonets when both the Vonets and the Radio are not powered from the mains wall sockets? I'm no expert these days (if I ever was.....), but the physical wiring...Last edited by agbagb; 2023-03-18, 15:33.

Though you never needed a licence purely to listen to the BBC radio output - it was (is?) needed for TV. Not living in the UK any more, I'm not sure what the "law" is regarding accessing BBC Sounds via the 'net (or LMS!) - though I can't imagine it pre-supposes having a UK TV reception licence...

Just had a look at mine (4 in total!) and I'm not seeing that....... My radios must be 10 years old, at the very least.

Elon Musk to the rescue!
We should add, seriously, that it's amazing that Logitech, after all these years, still provide decent, specialist SB support, via our very own Michael Herger, plus the mySB.com servers....

This one - Vonets VAP11G-300 Smart WiFi Bridge/WLAN Repeater/WiFi to Ethernet Adapter 2.4GHz avec 2 RJ45. 25 euros delivered, from Amazon.
What slightly fooled me when I was thinking about this solution was that I didn't understand that there is a power pass though included in the Vonets....

Thanks! As you say, better, no longer really very sore; and pretty functional, with care. Swollen and rather stiff still, which physio is gradually sorting. Plus, having had the hand in a brace for a month, it's amazing how much wrist and grip strength and flexibility you lose! Lesson - don't trip...

Agreed that the Vonet documentation was sparse....... But, that said, I simply powered it up, plugged it in to a LAN, went to the IP address which was clearly given in the docs, and it pretty much set itself up with only a couple of clicks. I was surprised that "it just seemed to work" ,...
