I recently saw someone waxing fondly nostalgic about the widely condemned, initial (1987) release of the Beatles' albums on CD, compared to the later remasterings and more recent remixes....

Thanks for the explanation, which covered factors far beyond any I had considered. I do recall "oversampling" CD players, as I think they were called at one time, and I realize that every time you increase the Nyquist frequency by an octave, you simplify the filter slope. But I couldn't help...

I am asking for it, too! Would you be willing to address my ignorance on this? What do you get from upsampled CD audio that is not present in the original rip?...

You are probably right about that. Do you know how far ahead it does read, if it does?...

I used to a usb HD with LMS, and consistently had problems when playing long tracks. I think what happened was that LMS would read the entire file into a buffer, after which it had no need to access the drive again, until it was time to start reading the next track. By that time, the drive had spun...

Suggestion: accept Sodface's very generous offer!
But if you would like to better understand what piCorePlayer is, just go to the project's home page and read the description of the three options available.

Sorry, I can see how that can be confusing. piCorePlayer was first created (i think) as an easy-to-install Linux distribution that would turn a Raspberry Pi single board computer into a Squeezebox-compatible player. Hence the name. It has gone through several versions since then, and now includes the...

Most plugin options should be available under Settings > Server in Material. There is a dropdown menu where you see "Basic settings." You need to select the plugin you want from that list. But some of us find the default interface preferable...

It's very easy to miss, but in post number 4 in this thread, he did say this:...

Part of the reason I have no abiding love for vinyl! Don't you have a stylus microscope tucked away somewhere? Wasn't that one of the accessories that used to be a necessary part of a turntable user's kit? Maybe a standard magnifying glass would serve....

Saw them live just once. The bass player used to be my wife's yoga instructor....

Yes, once you connect the new drive and set the path, "Clear library and rescan everything" should work for you. Glad that worked out for you....

What OS does your notebook run? You should be able to use exFAT with just about any version of Windows you could still be running, or with macOS 10.6.5 or greater, or many version of Linux. In some cases, you might have to install additional software to support the format.
My info comes...

I think I need to correct some misunderstandings I caused. The OP (shacky73) answered a number of questions I asked, but it was sometimes difficult to sort his answers out from my questions. I have tried make this easier by putting my questions and comments in parentheses, while his answers are out...

I suggested he look there in one of the earlier threads. It's worth repeating! My impression (again, not confirmed in any way) is that he was not involved in the setup, so username and password are probably whatever the router manufacturer uses as default. In that case, they are probably printed on...

Any ideas about default username/password? I think "admin" and "password" are standard on Netgear routers, but I don't know about others....

My impression -- not confirmed -- is that Shacky73 does not have a manual for his router and does not have access to its web interface. He has said that it was provided by Comcast/Xfinity, but we do not know the brand or model number, so it is very difficult to provide any guidance....

I am moved to chime in: I thought that, too. Or, perhaps some lint or dirt might have gotten lodged in the ethernet port on the Pi, or even on the router. An examination of the ports with a flashlight might be helpful. Some non-metalic...
