I have just had a little play;

I don't have a "big" linux powered up at the moment so used a rpi4b running the Bulleseye 64 bit desktop

Running the following gives me v8.3.1 which does not receive any further updates (as I understand things)

Well I keep a Linux Desktop on an old computer and I also have a Raspberry pi 4b 8gb with the raspberry pi Bullseye 64 bit Desktop installed

I popped the card reader and card into the pi and was able to acces the file system.

I am writing this on an old iMac.

The Mac OS Partition is shrunk (but still enabled) and Windows 10 Pro installed on the larger section (no need for BootCamp or Parallels)

It will most likely end up with Linux Mint or a Debian install (Bookworm) one day

I installed the raspberrypi Bullseye 32 bit desktop on a rpi4b.

I plugged in a 500gb usd disk called Music (I used the Desktop OS because it automounts any connected usb disks)

I just installed pCP v8.2.0 32 bit on a rpi 4b

Expanded the FS and attached an external usb disk

Installed the extra file systems

I did not install LMS

Configured the SMB as per Kidstypike's example.
