I've been playing two albums of minimalism by Erik Hall. The first is a recording of Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians. The second is his recording of a piece composed by Simeon ten Holt, Canto Ostinato, that I'm far less familiar with.

This is a great album, my vinyl copy survived a burglary with the four prints still present. I scoured all the local secondhand record shops to locate my stolen LPs.

Indeed, I was playing WYWH and DSOTM just this morning, and I occasionally play the earlier LPs, but really I don't like the albums Animals and beyond. Just not to my taste!

I've had Miharu Ogura's Ogura Plays Stockhausen playing a fair bit lately.. A double CD of Stockhausen's Klavierstuck via Qobuz (also available on Bandcamp).

I lost interest in Pink Floyd when Roger Waters' various obsession took prime place. And there was a load of more exciting music around, especially as punk morphed into post-punk.

I'm listening to the Sleaford Mods new album UK GRIM. More acute observation of the state of things (robust language) over minimal beats.

I think copies with the label with the solid triangle/prism are the first pressing and consequently valuable!

The copy I bought back in 1977 was pinched in a burglary in around 1985. I acquired a replacement from some friends who were ditching vinyl in favour of CDs.

My favourite Pink Floyd LP is The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. I don't care for Pink Floyd post Wish You Were Here, but I think I rate DSOTM and WYWH pretty much equally. I have a soft spot for Obscured by Clouds!

Have you seen this Guardian report of Roger Waters' solo version of DSOTM? Apparently "Waters seems to have decided that what was wrong with the original album’s beautiful instrumental tracks was that they didn’t have Waters talking all over them. Now they do."
