Because of the different time zones, I'll try and speed communication up a bit... I think you are downloading the original zip file which then gets automatically unpacked and then you are zipping back up again and that's causing the incompatibility with the SB Radio's built in...

2. Are you using Safari web browser to download the zip file from PomDev2 github site?
3. If so does Safari automatically unzip the downloaded zip file and place the files in a folder

Espressif state the default console settings are 115200-8-1-N

I think they will drop into recovery mode, after a while, if they cannot connect to wifi. I've looked but can't find anything that says connecting a serial console will force it into recovery mode and I know from my own use you...

Check out the thread linked below... in post number 14 I've outlined step by step instructions to load and setup wlanpoke into a Squeezebox Radio directly from MacOS with no other tools required.
You can copy and paste each command required from the thread.

It's actually both - you can set a Touch Skin size and a Remote Skin size - I have them both set to large - there are times when I'm briefly close to the player so use the touch screen - if Touch Skin is set to "Small Text" and I use the touch screen then the now playing screen has reduced...

Curiosity made me look a bit deeper...

If you select the Small Text Skin, then you get the "Music Note" symbol for now playing in the top right corner.
If you select the Large Text Skin, then you get a Now Playing at the top of the main menu above My Music

I've got a Now Playing menu item on my SB Touch, try just a reboot of the Touch, seem to remember that has sorted a few menu anomalies for me in the past.

Mine is on Community Firmware 8.0.1-r16862

Did you ground the SqueezeAMP DWL and then reset?

Even with DTR to DWL and RTS to RST connected on my SqueezeAMPs, I still have to ground DWL and then reset to enter programming mode...

My batch 1 and batch 2 SqueezeAMPs have a switch "S2" on the underside which grounds...
