I agree that one can run the player and LMS on the same rPi, ASSUMING that one can locate the rPi near the DAC *and* with an ethernet connection (which I think is better for the LMS portion). But otherwise, nothing at all wrong with using one for LMS and one for player.
-
Also, it is a factual thing that the USB implementation on the rPi3 and earlier *can* be problematic as it shares a path with power (or ethernet, can't recall). This issue was resolved with the rPi4B, making the USB connection independent. Many would argue that if using a USB DAC connected to an rPi,...

Respectfully, this statement about rPi3 better for player because of power consumption is complete audiofool nonsense. Don't fall for it....

Hmmm, good question. I would *think* the version compare doesn't survive a faculty reset (and recall, vaguely, that in installing community firmware it is suggested that one do a factory reset first). But it could also be true that new versions of LMS, 8.x.x resolve the problem automatically. But...

Agree with Jim. I had to do the version fix years ago, but wiped all that out with a factory reset when I installed the new community firmware. Version fix not needed when running community firmware....

Exactly, I have a handful of 24/192 files, and LMS automatically downconverts such files to 24/96 (in a good way) without any intervention from me and they play nicely on my Transporter. But you can use squeezelite on an rPi instead of the transporter to feed the DAC, and this can easily play 24/192,...

Two complete tracks from an album would be best, with one of the tracks showing up as album1 and the other track showing up as album2. album1 and album2 being the two split albums. We are wanting to examine the actual files in order to look for tagging or other issues that might be driving this. ...

Every split album I’ve had has ultimately been caused by a tag difference. Some are quite subtle. I use mp3tag (similar in power to Picard), and I have to look at “extended tags” to even see some of the tags. In some cases, because of some retagging, or reripping just a subset of tracks at the...

Yep, 2.5 drive. Agree that full size wouldn’t likely work without a separate power supply....Last edited by garym; 2023-01-30, 01:42.

Just noting that I use an rPi4B running LMS with an attached HDD. The attached HDD is a 4TB portable USB drive (spinning disk), holding about 130,000, mostly FLAC tracks. My drives are formated NTFS. I don't have to use separate power for the USB drive (the HDD gets its power from the rPi, though...

And note that if you have even a single track by these artists with an ARTISTSORT tag, *all* the tracks of that artist will use that sort information. Easiest way to find files with sort tags is to load up your files in mp3tag and create a column for ARTISTSORT, then sort on that column. You'll see...

Good point. And I still use SqueezePad. My wife prefers this over iPeng on the iPad....

I have SqueezePad on my iPAD and I purchased it many years ago. At that time, I had to do the "in app" purchase to also make SqueezePad an endpoint (player). But the app hasn't been updated in many years. My suspicion is that the app creator simply turned on the "endpoint/player"...

In the past, at my weekend cabin, I had my Squeezebox players connected only to mysqueezebox.com for folks (like my wife and others) to use when I wasn't there as well. But when I was there, I'd run LMS on my laptop, with my own music files. So in LMS, I needed to move the players from mysqueezebox.com...

This is odd and it should be very simple. Maybe it is normal but your IP address of 10.0.0.52 seems unusual to me. Every local network I’ve ever had has been 192.168.1.xxx or 192.168.0.xxx.

Not having any problems, but I'm not seeing the current time reported on on my piCorePlayer webGUI webpages footer. I'm sure I'm looking in the wrong places. Help point me in the right direction. thanks....
