They've not been very up to date in recent years. I used to use vortexboxes, but several years ago I moved on the rPi units running piCorePlayer. Easy to use, smaller, and easy to keep updated....

as an aside, because you are running LMS on your rPi, you should always shut down pCP by using the "shutdown" button in the pCP webGUI rather than just unplugging the rPi. Doing the latter *may* not cause a problem, but it is not recommended, when running LMS on the rPi....

I've trained my wife on doing all things squeezebox with the CONTROLLER (the one that came with duet receivers). I have two in use and one new in box backup. She is used to picking it up from the cradle on the kitchen countertop, stop, start, choose music or internet radio, change volume, etc. It's...

I use iPeng on iPhone as Squeezebox player, connected to portable Bluetooth speaker for such situations. I assume android has a similar control/player app....

I use dynamic playlists plugin. It loads only 10 or 15 tracks at a time from my selected playlist. No overloading....

On your transporter or touch, use menu to switch to mySqueezebox.com as a source. Can you play internet radio if you do this? If so, players are fine. Then select “my music” on the touch or transporter menu. This should offer up a choice of LMS local server. Does it offer up the rPi server?

Wi-Fi vs Ethernet is not related to this potential samba connection issue....

Logitech did the same thing with Harmony smart remotes. They had a nice niche, were very popular with the users (like squeezeboxes). Logitech bought them, and after a few years dropped the line I believe. There's a lot more profit in (and less post sales support for) keyboards and mice.

Is this a smbv1, smbv2 problem (see link). For example, I can't use samba to connect from my Windows 10 laptop to my rPi with attached USB. My laptop is work issued and some things are locked down. It is on smbv2, and I can't change to smbv1. I think it may need to be on smbv1 to connect to the rPi....

correct. iPeng is talking to LMS, not the players themselves. Make sure your players are connected to your LMS (and not to mysqueezebox.com). Can you play to these players from a webGUI accessing LMS? And make sure phone running iPeng is connected to same WIFI as LMS running on. Sometimes I forget...

I'm not an insider, so don't know any specifics. But I recall folks that knew more saying they showed zero interest. Keep in mind that even when these things were being produced, as a business line, they were probably .000000000000000000000000000000001 percent of Logitech revenues. Logitech was probably...

My planning ahead was acquiring 4 extra Touch Players, 4 extra radios (when Touch and Radios were super cheap when Logitech first announced discontinuing), and one new in box Transporter. The only flaw is that I have NOT needed to use any of these acquired extras because everything still works wel...

I love the Small Faces and the Faces (speaking of live, 5 guys walk into a bar is brilliant), but if I can only have one thing from that crew, its Ronnie Lane for me. I love everything he ever did....

Sorry, back on topic. I've been on a Todd Snider listening kick for a day or two (solo and the band Hard Working Americans). What got me started, was this video.

I randomly came across this 2 hour video. It is singer/songwriter Todd Snider recorded...
