Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput
Sorry if this has been asked and answered - How can you confirm EDO installation and operation?
I just rebuilt my server after a nasty disk crash. I now have LMS 7.8.0.
I have two Touches. One works fine as best I can tell. When playing a 24/192 track, the correct bitrate (just south of 5,000 kbps) shows in the more information popup. The other shows the bitrate "......(converted to 705 kbps FLAC)" on the same track. When I switch from "Digital and analog" to "digital only" and back in the output prefs, I get a momentary screen that says something to the effect of "Enhanced Digital Output not supported by Logitech" on one Touch and on the questionable one I do not. I have checked network throughput to that Touch and it seems to be sufficient.
Sadly, I do not have a DAC that reports incoming sample rate. That would make this too easy.
What's going on? How can I tell whether this is working? It's apparently installed (I do get the prefs page), but it looks to me like the custom kernel isn't loading. And critically, how do I fix it? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling EDO through the applet installer - to no joy. I have not yet tried resetting the Touch to factory settings and starting over.
Any help will be appreciated.
I would suggest uninstall the applet, factory reset, then re-install, I have a feeling that this is almost the correct way, check the first post of this thread.

I think the bit about is a bug if I remember correctly
the bug is the "reporting" only, not the actual transmission of data which is OK.

So, you think this Touch could be working correctly, just not reporting correctly? And how could I confirm that? I guess to answer my own question, I could carry the thing to the house of a friend who has a DAC that reports incoming sample rate.....

Or set some debug options in the log settings in LMS then you see the transcoding parameters being used .
But if it shows the (705k) it is transcoded for some reason I would also investigate the file types settings , at 24/96 does it transcode then ?
Are using USB , this hinges on that the DAC should report it's capabilities to EDO who in turn tells the server for example "this DAC only does 24/48" so it will be transcoded . Similar to how LMS knows the capacity of the diffrent squeezeboxes .
Using SPDIF does it still transcode for 24/192 .
What file formats are we using some will always be transcoded and some will be depending on settings in file types .

When you power up both Touches do they both also initially display this message or not? They should.
LMS 8.1 on PC, Xubuntu 20.04, FLACs 16->24 bit, 44.1->192kbps. 2 Touches & EDO.
LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (A308CR amp & ESLs) & Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers.
Also Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers.
Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.
Wireless Xubuntu 20.04 laptop firefox/upplay or Android mobile with Squeeze-Ctrl/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.
Also note that reinstalling LMS shouldn't have had any effect on EDO. EDO is installed as an applet on the TOUCH itself, independent of the LMS install. But I'm not an EDO user so maybe there is some LMS > EDO interaction that I'm not aware of.

OK. I did do the hard reset, which went off with no ill effects. (Since several people responded and nobody brought up any issues with the reset, I figured it was probably pretty safe. Can't be too careful, since there's no such thing as returning a bricked player to Logitech at this point.)
After the hard reset, I forced a firmware upgrade, which in this case downgraded to 7.7.something. Thereafter, EDO installed properly and the splash screen does now display the "not supported" warning. My chosen 24/192 track plays and the bitrate displays correctly. So all good at this point.
When I navigated off the home page after EDO had installed and rebooted, the Touch tried to upgrade its firmware to 7.8.whatever. Which is weird. If the server is at 7.8.0, why did it want to "upgrade" to 7.7.whatever earlier? In any case, not wanting to mess with a running engine, I declined the offer :-) The other Touch is running 7.8.whatever, so I'm not convinced right off that this was a firmware issue. But, like I said, why mess with a running engine...
I am having problems where by I constantly re-set the EDO setting and re-boot the Touch. Usually after firing up my system I have to go through the audio output settings ,sometimes a couple of times. Any ideas? Thanks.

One idea is for more information on how you have the SBT/Dac connected.
If you are using the USB connection why not try optical/co-ax instead.
Thanks for the reply, I am using USB, I thought this was supposed to be the best method as it is clock locked. I could just dim the DACs display I suppose but it does run quite warm.

Try switching the M-dac on first, then booting the SBT.
I always thought the main reason for EDO was to enable the SBT to play/pass through high res files. The co-ax will do that.
The M-dac usb connection does not seem to be a 'regular' one and folk have problems with the M-Dac, SBT/EDO,and also with M-Dac, Raspberry pi/USB.
You could try connecting a USB HUB (powered or not) or a usb power supply (aqvox type thingy) to the SBT and the M-Dac to the HUB.

kindly ask you to help me in Enhanced Digital Output installation. I am using Synology DS115 and Logitech Media Server 7.7.3 from Synology as well.
Unfortunately I can't find 'Enhanced Digital Output' plugin in Plugins section (“Recommended applets only” deselected, added repository http://triodeplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/repo.xml)
I see many Triode's plugin but not EDO.
