I never realized this, as I never use mysb.com. But I have setup systems for friend who tell me "hey, I lost radio station xxx" and we determine that they are connected to mysb.com (like the OP), and xxx is only a favorite of LMS. This is a good way for them to troubleshoot on their own.

Ahh - maybe I just don;t wait long enough for it to perform and refresh. Madame AGB often reminds me that patience is a virtue......

Stilll Can't get LMS to work properly - No idea what is going wrong?

In desperation after rebooting everything a number of times nothing was working properly so I decided to clear the cache etc.

I can log into mysqueezebox.com okay so I assume account/password is okay. If I select mysqueezebox from the touch I get error message saying can't resolve IP address.

In the logs I just get lots of messages saying the same thing. It can't resolve the IP address for mysqueezebox. But it I type the website name in a browser it goes straight there.

At long last I can play music from the touch but get almost no cover art even though I have rescanned the entire library. For a while it got stuck on scanning the library and wouldn't move forward so I cleared the library and did a completely new scan.

For quite a while the web interface to server settings refused to display any third party plugs. After a lot of reboots it finally did but when I select the web interface I don't get the material skin even though I selected it. If I manually type /materail it works but not by default.

        So my questions are:

        1. What should I do to sort this out
        2. Why can it not resolve the IP address for mysqueezebox
        3. Why do I not get the material skin by default now?

I'm thinking of moving my entire library to a Raspberrry Pi with SSD but at the moment all my music files are not named with Linux friendly names.

I'd also love to know peoples views on which plugins to use on a new install? I used to have a kind of rotating view of cover art on the touch which I really liked but I can't seem to find that now.

Sorry to hear. Allot to unpack here. A couple quick things, in a browser make sure you are accessing www.mysqueezebox.com as opposed to mysqueezebox.com. There is a difference, but I am not real clear on what it is.

Second, did you try reentering your mysb.com credentials in LMS settings->mysqueezebox.com (tab)? Even if they "look ok"? You did not say. This has tripped up a couple members here. This is what LMS uses to access mysb.com.

            Thanks for the reply.

Yes tried with and without www in browser and both work. It is just the touch that complains about being unable to resolve any IP addresses. I assume this is LMS on my PC that is having this problem but I don't understand why. My PC and all the squeezeboxes have fixed IP addreszes so nothing has changed here.

I tried changing my password on mysqueezebox and ensuring that it was correct in settings.

The main problem seems to be that it can't resolve any IP addresses but I don't know why? I thoought rebooting everything might help but it made no difference.

I've never had this problem before and I can't find any firewall issues so I'm totally lost.

@DLD-UK, I tried and experiment and am confused as to the results. I was hypothesizing that LMS was not properly logged into mysb.com, and perhaps that was causing your problem. I tried to recreate, and just ended up confusing myself.

First, does your LMS settings->mysqueezebox.com look like this?:

Name:	mysb.png
Views:	1
Size:	11.4 KB
ID:	1576293

If it does, I assume it means you are properly logged into mysb.com via LMS. I logged out, then entered an incorrect pw, and it would not allow login, so I assume seeing this screen (as opposed to username and password fields) means you are properly logged in

So, I stayed logged out, restarted LMS, removed/reapplied power to my touch, then went to settings->advanced->network->switch to mysb.com (hoping to generate your error), and it worked fine, it allowed me to access mysb.com even though I was logged out There must be some cache involved there somewhere. Or, maybe the touch needs a factory reset?

              I have two other thoughts:

              1) If you can post specific steps to your issue, perhaps with screen shots or a photo of what your touch's complaint is, that might help.

              2) If you have another machine (as a test) - PC, laptop, etc start with a fresh install of LMS, then try to connect your touch to it. If you do this, best to shutdown your original LMS, so that the touch only sees the new one.

                I'm confused too!

For reasons I don't understand I could suddenly connect to mysqueebox.com. All I did was restart the LMS server but I had done that half a dozen times before. without success. Rebooting and powering everything off didn't work but suddenly it works!

What caused it to not connect before and now connect I have no idea. For some reason it wouldn't resolve any IP addresses even though I could ping mysqueezebox.com, and other sites, that it couldn't resolve from the PC running LMS.

                I'm totally lost.

It makes me more convinced that I should move LMS and my library to a Raspberry Pi so that it is separate to everything else.

In the process of trying to get it to work I have messed up my configuration and it's been so long since I set it up I'm struggling to get it back how I want it. But such is life!

Happy for you! Confusion and working is better than not working. Some times things just happen. Probably no doubt your windows update shuffled the cards a bit.

I moved from windows to a raspberry pi (picoreplayer) for my server quite a while ago, and it was one of the best sb moves I ever made. Cheap (when you can get them), low power consumption, running 24/7, doesn't involve windows, and when you turn your windows machine off, the music doesn't stop. I seriously would turn off my PC and say "hey, what happened to the music?"

                    I spoke too soon!!!

I have no idea why but I've got the same problem again. The only thing I have done is reboot my PC. I can now play music on my PC but nothing off the internet.

It is deinitely time to move to a Pi but that means converting all my Flac files to Linux friendly names.

Can anyone explain why LMS can't resolve IP addresses when the PC it is running on can?

@DLD-UK, can you please give an exact description of the error message, what device you are seeing it on (your touch?), and what you are attempting when it happens?

For example, might this be what you are seeing?: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...lve-IP-address

I don't think that is the problems as DNS is working for everything else on the PC. The strange thing is that when I first got the problem the Web admin interface wouldn't display any thrid party plugins. I have no idea why. I can't work out why that happened but just went to display plugins again and it took an age to display them. Then it only displlays active and inactive plugins. Having not configured for ages I have no idea what I should be seeing. But the display took ages and I'm not running on a slow PC and my network connection is fibre.

The problem happened this time when I went to play Radio Paradise on the touch. Just wouldn't play and then said it couldn't access the stream. Log file says couldn't resolve IP address again.

May be time to re-install LMS. Not sure which version I should be running or what the touch should be running. The server is version 8.2.0 - 1627922070

You should move to LMS 8.3.1 and see if the problem continues.

If it does then we would need more information about what things you might have in place that could affect the networking stack on the LMS machine - things like Firewalls, Anti-Virus, DNS blackhole tools etc

I am no windows expert, not even a novice, but I have read (on this forum) where recent updates made security/permission changes that caused allot of difficulty for many. You might want to search on a few of those threads.

Also, I am not a big believer in coincidence. I'm more of a cause and effect person. If this truly happened immediately after your update, that's the cause. Maybe you could roll back a few updates? I have never had any success doing something like that, I eventually blue screen my box and end up with a clean install of windows.

Regarding your use of the radio paradise stream, if it is any of the flac streams, and perhaps you used them from a favorite, that does require that the radio paradise plugin to operate. It will error without it. See if any of the mp3 320kbps streams will play, they don't need the plugin.

Your comment on the plugin page not showing some things - there is a triangle icon at the start of each category that is an expand/hide. Example V Active will show, >Active will hide. Makes sure what is missing isn't hidden.

I saw Paul is recommending 8.3.1 worth a try. If it was me, and you had another old PC, I would do a new install with a thumb drive of music, say 2-4 albums. Get that working. It should take under an hour.
