Squeezebox Touch not connecting to LMS

But did you add the new version to the firewall after the re-install?

Yes, that's the latest for the helper binary.

Squeezebox Touch not connecting to LMS

Apologies of this has been covered elsewhere but my Squeezebox Touch is connected to MSB but will not connect to LMS. I have restarted both but still not connecting. LMS version is 8.3.1. Firmware on SBT is 7.7.3, it was previously 7.8.0 but I did a factory reset and now it won't prompt me to update to 7.8.0.

I've had my SBT for a few days now and am about to give up on it as I've spent more time trying to get it to work than any other piece of hifi I have ever owned. Does anyone else find it to be a very flakey piece of kit?

    Any help/advice gratefully received, thanks

No, not flakey at all. Rock solid and usually just works. But something is causing you problems. Are you sure the touch and LMS are on same network and subnet, etc.

Where is LMS running? Same network? Docker?

It's not clear to me if the OP is just expecting the Touch to switch automatically to the LMS server of if they used the Touch menu to select the LMS server. It should connect straightaway if you've selected an LMS server (check it's running properly, e.g. by looking at it via a web browser). If it's not connecting, what errors does it report if any?

What are you running LMS on?

As for Gary, my Touch has worked perfectly since I bought it soon after release.

Thanks for the responses. My set up is very simple, one network, LMS and MSB running on Apple Macbook Pro M1 (Monterey). All configurations seem to be correct as far as I can see and I have managed to update the SBT to the latest firmware 7.8.0. Further tinkering would seem to point in the direction of the iPeng app being the issue. When I switch from MySqueezeBox to MacBook Pro as the music source in iPeng, MSB no longer recognises the SBT but LMS does. I then get persistent requests to allow Spotty to accept incoming connections which don't stop until I stop LMS. I don't know what else to check....

I didn't think a factory reset would downgrade the firmware either. That must have come from mysqueezebox.com.

LMS is running on MacBook Pro on same network as SBT. I only have one Wifi network

Can you uninstall for a moment? Would LMS then work as expected?

And did you tell macOS to allow Spotty to be accessed? Do you have
                  macOS' firewall up?

it is correct that a touch can only be connected to mySqueezebox.com OR LMS. not both at same time. mysb.com is essentially LMS “in the cloud”. On the touch menu select my music and it should ask to connect to any LMS on your network.

                      To expand on Gary's comments.

The squeezebox device needs a server, which can be MySB.com OR LMS running on a local computer. (Sorry if you already know this, but you made a comment that mySB was running on your mac.) After a factory reset, the Touch will likely want to connect to MYSB.com. To connect to your local LMS, select My Music, and the Touch should switch to your local LMS server.

LMS is updated so it will provide the best performance. MySB.com is not updated, for example it will not stream stations using secure streams (https) but mySB.com will stream http sources. I use mysb.com when at work to stream radio stations so I don't have to run LMS, but I use LMS at home.

You may also want to try material skin to control LMS as it is useful when using a mobile device.

I hope this provides some helpful insight.

Can you please let me know what you mean by uninstall, what should I uninstall?
When I connect to LMS I am constantly asked about once per minute to allow Spotty to connect. Spotty is set to allow incoming connections in the Firewall settings. I cannot see Squeezebox as an option in Spotify when I try to connect to it. Then only way I can stop my Mac asking to allow Spotty to connect is to stop LMS.

EDIT: I have noticed that when I see the request to allow Spotty to accept incoming connections on my MacBook Pro, Squeezebox Touch appears momentarily on the Spotify app on my iPhone then disappears. This would indicate that there is something in my configuration which is blocking Spotty from accepting the connections. No idea where to start with this so any help much appreciated

UPDATE: I did a factory reset of the SBT and uninstalled and reinstalled the Spotty plug in and it was working perfectly. Thanks very much for your help. I just tried to use Spotify Connect but could not see the Squeezebox as an option. I also keep getting requests to allow Spotty to accept incoming connections on my Macbook which don't stop unless I shut down LMS or reinstall Spotty. Interestingly I can use Spotify through LMS and iPeng on my iPhone i.e. this just seems to impact the Spotify app. Any thoughts on this?

I'm sorry for being vague... uninstall Spotty, as it was causing
                              additional issues.
