    Squeezebox Radio drops Wi-Fi signal

    Hello,
I have read many articles on this topic. I have two Squeezebox radios, they will not stay connected no matter which channel on the ATT Gateway router is on. One of the radios is in the same room as the router so I connected it via ethernet cable, works fine. The other radio is not able to get connected in the conventual ethernet way. I read about Wi-Fi to ethernet adapters, bridges and dongles, tried to fine how all these connect and which one is the best for my situation without any success. I only have one radio to get working, Wi-Fi will not work, my neighborhood is very congested on the 2.4GHz, I would like somehow to connect via ethernet, that's where I need help not sure as to how to do this.
    Thank you

The SB Radios have a problem with the new Wifi 6 (AX) communication protocol (standard?). It does not necessarily need to be your router but a neighbor using AX is a likely source of the problem. The test that the SB radio works with ethernet but not wifi might indicate the AX nterference problem.

Here are your options from easiest to most complicated. (Depending on your tech ability, you might find option 3 easier than option 2 because you don't have to purchase any equipment.)

    1. Connect via ethernet. Which you have already done for one Radio
    2. Use a Wifi to Ethernet device to bypass the wifi internal to the Radio. This can be done using wifi to ethernet bridge. I use a TP link nano WR802 router. Others use a similar device made by Vonets, however, I had difficultly using it due to me not understanding the sparse information provided with the Vonets. Another option is to use an ethernet power line adapter which uses your electrical wiring, but these devices can be a hit or miss.
    3. Install Wlanpoke. This is software that you install on the SB Radio which monitors the wifi and when necessary it will restart the Wifi. I use it on one of my Radios and it helps a lot. When the interference occurs, when syncing radios, it can cause a pause in the music when Wlanpoke does its thing. It is not a universal fix and sometimes I still have to restart my Radio.

    Good luck

Agreed that the Vonet documentation was sparse....... But, that said, I simply powered it up, plugged it in to a LAN, went to the IP address which was clearly given in the docs, and it pretty much set itself up with only a couple of clicks. I was surprised that "it just seemed to work" , as that isn't my usual experience with inexpensive fixes! It's now been running for a couple of months, with zero problems; and it simply reset itself after a couple of pwoer and router outages.

I did do a fiddly mechanical fix recommended somewhere here ..... The Vonets LEDs are very bright and are inside the plastic case, behind the vent slots. So you can't simply tape them out without blocking the vents. I prised the clamshell apart (easily, despite having recently broken 2 fingers in a fall!), and put a couple of bits of that blue paper painter's masking tape on the LEDs before reassembling the case. Five minutes work, and now, just a gentle blue-green glow.

I was going to ask you last time we talked, but forgot to. How are your digits doing? Better, but sore? Back to being functional?

To The OP - probably best to try Paul's suggestion of wlanpoke first, why not, free and easy. I think I have read that there is a beta version that POMdev is working on with enhanced capabilities. https://forums.slimdevices.com/forum...04#post1631004

Thanks! As you say, better, no longer really very sore; and pretty functional, with care. Swollen and rather stiff still, which physio is gradually sorting. Plus, having had the hand in a brace for a month, it's amazing how much wrist and grip strength and flexibility you lose! Lesson - don't trip over in the street, particularly "at a certain age" .....

This one - Vonets VAP11G-300 Smart WiFi Bridge/WLAN Repeater/WiFi to Ethernet Adapter 2.4GHz avec 2 RJ45. 25 euros delivered, from Amazon.

What slightly fooled me when I was thinking about this solution was that I didn't understand that there is a power pass though included in the Vonets. So you power the Vonets from the Radio power supply, and then plug the 2 wires that protrude from the Vonets into the Radio - one power, one LAN. As it happens, the Vonets still pushes out a decent WiFi relay signal - which fixed an issue elsewhere in the house, with an entirely different piece of kit!

Is can find two Vonet VAP11G-300 devices on Amazon.nl which apparently are not exactly the same. Which one do you mean?

I purchased the tp-link 300Mbps wireless Nano router.TL-WR802N. I have it connected in Access Point Mode. Led is lit steady, my ATT Gateway router identifies it. My computer is connected via Wi-Fi, I can not access the site http://tplinkwifi.net. I cleared history in Google which is my browser still can't access the site. Need some help.

                        Thanks Jim

Looking at the manual for your router, I think Client Mode is what you want.

Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual players (Squeezelite and Airplay bridge). Occasionally using SB Radio, Boom or Classic.

I use the TL-WR802N as the wifi to ethernet bridge and yes, Client Mode is correct.

I connected it via client mode but I still need to know how to get into the router by my computer via http://tplinkwifi.net, always get the error message from the site.
I connected the tp link to the squeezebox via ethernet cable clicked on the network listed and the password could not access internet. Forgive me but this kind of stuff puzzles me not understanding how all this works.
