The problem in this thread is not related to the community firmware. Something else odd going on for you, as the community firmware works for me and most others. Note that if there is a WIFI issue, as discussed in this thread, the community firmware will NOT solve the problem. Other approaches will need to be used (wLAnPoke, ethernet, etc.).

For many years all my squeezeboxes functioned flawlessly. Since I upgraded the radios with the community firmware the blue wifi icon issue popped up.
I agree that any preexisting wifi issues will not be resolved with the community firmware. Still, for me it seems that either the firmware or the plugin may have a bug.

I'm not questioning that you're having a problem on your end. Just pointing out that hundreds (maybe even 1000s) of people are using the community firmware with their Radios with no issue (including me) and are not reporting this problem. So there is not an specific bug in the firmware/plugin. I recommend (1) remove the community firmware from LMS, (2) doing a factory reset on the Radio, (3) after Radio setup, then add the community firmware plugin back to LMS and tick the box to "use" this in the LMS > Settings > Plugins > Community Firmware Settings. Or simply don't use the community firmware. It's not required. (but without it, if using LMS 8.x you'll need the applet for the Radio that allows it to use the newer LMS versions. This is not needed with the community firmware).

I agree with Gary, it is probably not the firmware, I have radios with both firmware's operating on the same network for months without an issue. I normally don't like to believe in coincidence, but this may be one. The disconnect issue that came up with the radio (only) and is all over this forum was around the time that wifi-6 (802.11x) routers came on to the market. I don't have the issue, but from discussions it appears that wifi-6 issues could be your router, or a neighbor's new router. Also, distance to the router (or distance away from the offending router) can play a huge factor**, 2.4 GHz is absorbed by objects - walls, ceilings, ground, etc.

** RF power follows the inverse square law - double the distance results in 1/4 the power, half the distance results in 4x the power. So moving your device closer/further from target/offending router makes a huge difference. If your router is not an ax (first thing to check), then you want your radio to see a strong signal when compared to all other networks.

Again, I don't have the issue, but if you wanted to play around, move your radio around - close to your router, then to one neighbor, then the other, move it to a basement (if you have one - the ground is a huge attenuator for 2.4GHz), etc. You can also use an app (android) like wifi analyzer to see the relative strength of your and your neighbor's network at each position.

sorry for the ramble, I am working on trying to be concise

          Jim

I suggest a test connecting the radios using ethernet. If the disconnect problems disappear, then there is a problem with the Wifi connection. I have three SB radios at my home. The one connected using ethernet (via a wifi to ethernet bridge) never disconnects; it uses the community firmware. The other two using the community firmware and running wlanpoke work most of the time. However, periodically I will have to reboot them. The period between reboots can be days or weeks, it is random. I have concluded the problem is most likely due to a neighbor's wifi system.

or you can just wait 24 days for it to reboot itself

I've been having this problem for a few years now, and as I mentioned in another thread last year, I took the leap and bought wifi bridges and took the devices out of wifi mode and use it on Ethernet only.

I still have this problem with my radios and occasionally the duet receivers. Less so, but still occasionally. Blue icon. On both radio and reciever.

                The touch never disconnects.

In the meantime I changed the wifi channel. So far so good...

                      Hello everyone,

so I guess I have the same problem now: I have two Radios working flawlessly for years with my LMS server on a Windows machine. All of a sudden since some weeks one of the two radios shows the red symbol after some hours and refuses to connect to the LMS. The second Radio has no problem at all.
Yeah strange is: Wifi is working fine. When the problem appears I can still log in via SSH to it and I can do things, no problem.

Reboot fixes the problem. When doing the network diagnose it claims that there is a ping error to the LMS. This is not true I can ping the machine fine via SSH.
Triggering the "Network repair" also fixes the problem.

I am with both Radio and LMS on latest stock firmware/software. No community software.

There is no solution currently, right?

                      EDIT:
Also I did a factory reset to the device but that didn't help.

Search the forum for wlanpoke and see if it improves things.

One question - are you operating on line power or battery? I seem to recall quite a while ago that there was a "red icon" issue with battery operation only. I can find the thread if that's the case, let me know.

I am running on line power with no batteries.
Yesterday I installed that wlanpoke thingie and at least since then no issue anymore. So I have hope that it actually "fixes" the problem for me.
