I didn't get an email because I didn't watchlist it. But I did get a notification in the android app because I looked at it. Must be the difference, I think you can set different notification preferences for your account/the app.

since you can see, sold after 2 bids for $1?

Interesting, the first bid is right around the time of Paul's post. I'll bet the second bid was automatic, triggered by the bid that was eventually retracted after about 6 minutes.

The second bid seems to be just before the end of the listing but is the same amount and the same bidder as the first bid.

just guess trying to explain two $1 bids. I really don't understand the bidding data (nor have I tried to) especially when you "show automatic bids"

I just try to win 'em

I did win it - but had to invent an address in USA for eBay to allow me to pay for it.
So I added the KCRW address as a new home for a few hours.
I intend to collect it on Wednesday.
after winning I saw the name of the seller and realised that I sort of knew him because we worked in competing companies in 1990s.

That's pretty cool Paul. Yet another player and UI for the collection on the cheap.

Yea, he was unlikely to get many bidders that live/have an address in the US yet can pick up locally. When it happens again (Ha) you can use my address! Heck, I'd even buy it for you

That is indeed a very good buy! Last month I bought only a Controller for 20 euro on the local ebay in NL and thought it was a good deal. Now I have my doubts...

I do intend to give him more than the bid price and he can give what he wants from that to charity.

My best "deal" was a red radio missing knobs and a power supply for $10USD. Almost ashamed to admit he was asking for $20, but had a "best offer" so I said "why not try $10" (not for charity). Picked up a supply for $10USD, and a kind fellow forum member sent me some 3d printed knobs.
