Duet Controller back button not working

As the title suggests, the back button on my controller doesn't work.

I tried it in Factory Tests and it doesn't work there either.

    Any suggestions?

      Try rebooting controller

Thanks for the reply, I've done that and a factory reset.

In what context is it not working. For example if playing an album, does back move to the prior track?

Out of ideas. I haven’t seen this in my two controllers.

                OK, thanks.

I was hoping someone would pop up with a teardown walk through to dismantle and clean.

Does anyone think spraying contact cleaner in would help? What is behind the button?

On disassembly use google with "site:forums.slimdevices.com" and look for posts on "clean controller wheel"

This link has details on disassembly steps but photo have gone when Picasa went.

Also this post has a pdf with photos

Contact cleaner would only help if the button is mechanical they could be capacitative

Alternative approach might be to remap in s/w the back button onto say "+" button if you don''t use "+" very often.

you could try wd40 dry lube (only this kind). Another forum member said he uses it to fix his controller wheel. Use the nozzle to blast a bit in the crack between the button and case.

But as bpa mentions, it would not help if the buttons are capacitive, or, if the contact is encapsulated

                      Hello Jim,

I was the user who said they used it on another controller.

I don't think it is applicable to this situation. The problem here is a click, not surfaces sliding against each other.
Which is why I thought contact cleaner might be the one, but I don't know yet what type of contact is behind the button.

                      Thanks

                        Thanks for the reply,

How would I remap the button? I've Googled it with no results so far?

                          Ha!

I went looking to see if I could find any picture of the guts. I couldn't find one but I did find a previous discussion on taking one apart, no pictures, but this disassembly description from a Slim founder: https://forums.slimdevices.com/filed...7&d=1550345034

I'll keep looking. I think I might have a dead controller that I could try to take apart, but probably not for a few days...

edit - found a thread with disassembly but no pictures anymore https://forums.slimdevices.com/forum...onnectivitivy=

                            Thanks Jim

Your first link does have photos if you keep scrolling down.
It's the same one as posted by bpa further up.

ah...I never read through all the posts, nor did I go through the whole doc. I should have known that bpa would have everything covered!

I think I may have a dead controller in storage. If I find the time I might try to open it up. If I do I'll take pics and post.

BTW, I used the WD-40 Dry on my sticky controller wheel, and it works quite well, thanks for the suggestion.
