Duet or power supply?

Hardware gurus -

My trusty, rock solid for the last few years Duet is, all of a sudden, quite dead. It flashed a bright red set up light for a bit, and now the center button does nothing. Based on the amount of traffic I'm reading here about PS issues, I'm guessing that's what I'm dealing with, but another opinion or three would be welcome. It's not a crisis because I have SqueezePlay running on a Mac Mini in my main set up, and worst to worst, can bring my rPi out for receiver duties. But I hate just letting gear sit, not working, even though I'm not good at this stuff. Thoughts?

This adapter in this post will do the job and one of the provided tips will fit perfectly in spite of what others say.

Took your advice, got the adapter you recommended - and it solved the problem. Thank you very much. And yes, the tip fit perfectly.

I also just obtained the Belker !2W universal power supply referred to above, from Amazon Canada. And as advertised by w3wilkes - it works! Interestingly, neither of the 2 closest-sized tips actually look to be the same size as the original, and in fact the more visually appealing of the two is the poorer fit. The one that does work is a tiny bit looser-fitting that the original, but the Duet has been working fine in the 2 hours since i received delivery, so no complaints.

Bought my first Duet 15 years ago, and later I got a second one which served as a spare. Last weekend I found that both Receivers had died. Panicked at first, but figured that it was the power adapters that had given up, and found the Belker recommendation mentioned here. However, I found one with another brand name on Amazon Sweden that had round pins instead of flat so that it would fit the power sockets. It was also upgraded to handle 30W. Ordered it and it arrived today from Amazon Germany.



One of the supplied tips fitted absolutely perfectly on the Receiver, and after setting the voltage to 9V and then plugging it in the Receiver came alive. What a relief! This adjustable power adapter is perfect and a real bargain. Note though that there are adapters like this on Amazon that are shipped from China which may take over a month to deliver.
