Receiver connects via WiFi but not Ethernet

I rebuilt my LMA and now my receivers won't connect.
Controller: I reset the controller and connect via WiFi to the SSID.
Receiver: Press the button until quick res flash then look for it via the controller, shows up nicely via the MAC address. I can successfully connect to LMS via WiFi, LED turns white and I see it in LMS. Doing the same thing but selecting Ethernet moves the LED from red to green to blue. The Ethernet cable is good. Error message says can't connect ... (lost connection). Blue status based on doc says "Waiting to connect to Squeezebox Server or MySqueezebox.com". Exactly.tje same behaviour on my second receiver.

Any idea what's going on?

I think you are doing it, but just to be sure, you are bringing up the controller and receiver together, right?

I always do -

power down controller/press and hold receiver until quick red flash, which then transitions to slower red flash
Press and hold '+' on the controller, then press and hold power, release both when the lights on controller flash or the screen comes alive.

It sounds like you are doing this, but I wanted to make sure. I have never had good luck bringing u the receiver with an already active controller.

Your situation is odd to me, my problems with receivers have always been wifi

I had problem with 2nd hand receiver ethernet socket. It worked intermittently when touching ethernet cable.. Soon after power adapter gave up ghost.. Since replacing it ethernet also seem solid. Maybe try gently moving ethernet cable end in receiver socket to see if it has good connection (do ethernet lights are on)
It could not be related to hardware but you never know

Not sure I have much to add, I know that it wouldn't allow me to switch to Ethernet after I had it setup on WiFi but you're saying it's letting you choose (so you already have the cable plugged in) but it then doesn't fully connect during the setup.

Only other thing I can think of, is to make sure you're using a short cable next to your actual switch/router to make sure it's not something in between that's causing issues (e.g. something in the cable wall run).

This probably isn't helpful, but I have one SB Receiver where the ethernet port died and now it's only usable on wifi. This was a pre-production hardware beta version and when I reported the issue the Logitech guys immediately said that they'd had several such reports.

Presumably they solved that issue before going into production (otherwise there would be lots of posts about it over the past ~15 years), but it is a part of the hardware that can fail. Hopefully rarely.
