Replace power connector?

What worked for me, was simply bending the two small pins inside the power connector on the power supply side. They kind of "hug" the center pin in the power socket of the boom. And just need a little push to the center, so they get a better contact to the center pin.

If you are interest in a workaround that "works", you may want to try applying the 3M HVB tape, that will securely hold the plug in a specific position that will allow the contacts to connect for a long, long time. Fix this after first cleaning the plug and socket, and remember to leave enough room for the ethernet plug.!!

For anyone wandering by....

I didn't have any 99% on hand, so I tried some 70% isopropyl alcohol and that seems to have fixed the connector problem. Before, I tried everything. I pulled out the board, and flexed the PCB to PCB connection - nothing, I flexed the connector to PCB - nothing. I flexed the power supply cable itself, nothing. A dunk of the connector in Isopropyl a few times and plug-unplug-plug cycling appears to have fixed, however.

All I had was 91% isopropyl alcohol on hand, so why the hell not?
Working like a charm so far!

1 Disconnected plug from wall socket
2 disconnected plug from Boom
3. poured a few drops into the 5mm plug (dc end)
4. Plugged, unplugged about 20 times to and from the boom.
5. Left it 10 minutes to dry
6. Plugged it in to boom and the power - the whole intermittent power thing is FIXED

I can wigger the plug around in the boom, it never drops out

I tried this trick using 99.9% Isopropyl alcohol on a couple of Booms with the same problem.
One was fixed 100% & the other improved a little.
Worth trying & thanks for the tip.

Well, I used some Deoxit on several booms with power supply issues recently...fixed them all, good as new, so far! Was about AU$30 for a small spray bottle thingy...seems a very reasonable price to play for much more reliable music...

Got it now. I just realised I can access web view from Tapatalk. I suppose propanol would also work. I still have some lying around from the days of cleaning cassette recorder tape heads.

Industrial Ehtyl Alcohol (ethanol) fixed my Boom

Many thanks to WontonNoodleSoup! Spraying the power receptacle with DeoxIT DN5 also fixed my boom. It did not fix my power supply (which seemed to go out at the same time - I have two Booms, so I could use one to debug the other), but I still have to consider this a success.

Conductive metal sticky tape. About twice as wise as a fingernail clipping. Stack a few if necessary on one side of the plug, leaving 4/5ths of the plug bare. It should snug it up nicely. Works.

You will have to get the mainboard out completely to get to the connector (it is located on the daughterboard that stands off the mainboard in a 90 degree angle). But some experience with soldering is definitely required, and you will need the right spare part.
