Tagging .dsf DSD files for LMS (& SB Touch playback)

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to tagging but have managed to tag the bulk of my FLAC rips such that they display in a logical (to me!!) fashion on the LMS web interface and on the devices themselves.

90% of albums are essentially single artist but every now and then there'll be a guest artist featured.

So I tag artist & albumartist via MP3tag. All seems to work ok.

Just started using DSD files via SB Touch and i'm getting bizzare behaviour.

I added a Dire Straits rip of Brothers in Arms from SACD. Its a DSD file. The tracks play fine on SBT / Chord Mojo. But when i add the album to the LMS database, all my other Dire Straits no longer appear in the Albumartis list!!! Take the offending album away & Dire Straits reappears.

I added a rip of Clare Martin's Perfect Alibi. Plays fine. But one of the tracks features John Martyn so that track is tagged Artist = Clare Martin & John Martyn, Aibumartist = Clare Martin.

In the Albumartist list on the web interface I now wrongly get Clare Martin & John Martyn.....

Must be something to do with .dsf tags as I have the identical album ripped from a CD to FLAC with identical tags as seen via MP3Tag which doesnt cause this behaviour.

Anyone able to shed some light on this or suggest a better tool than MP3tag. Any suggestions of where I can find a definitive list of LMS tags & how they are mapped from FLAC / MP3 / DSF tags would be invaluable!

    Thanks

I have dsf and flac files which are tagged with mp3tag. No issues. Could you maybe post screenshots of the scanned tags of the files in LMS that cause strange behaviour?

Ah thanks. Well that's useful to confirm so must be something to do with how I am tagging (or the way I am misusing tags)! I'm usually able to track down tag issues eventually but this has stumped me for the time being.

I'll try and reproduce it using my test system & will post if I get the same results. Is there an easy way to dump/print the tags in MP3TAG or LMS?

In LMS, go to a specific song and choose something like 'More' and 'show tags'. I am using a non english version so not sure what the exact command is. Then use snipping tool (on windows) to capture the screen and upload.

When it comes to tagging, I am a little bit OCD, too.

I had the same problem when tagging dsf files. Then I discovered a workaround.

First, don't use Mp3tag's <Album Artist> on the left. Anything you put here gets written to ALBUMARTIST field in Metadata. However, LMS doesn't seem to get ALBUMARTIST from dsf files. LMS reads ALBUM ARTIST fine.
So, you need to go to View -> Extended Tags... and create an ALBUM ARTIST field then put the artist name in the value.

I later found out, not only dsf files, but also wav files have this problem.
