Thank you for the continued support...
MHerger and Logitech:
Thank you for your continued support of the Slim Devices/Squeezebox product line (and Logitech Media Server). I have just finished integrating another couple of Squeezebox Radios into my home system; I've picked up four total from siblings, as well as bought a used one online and had two original ones of my own. I was able to easily re-register the non-new acquired Squeezebox Radios by doing a factory reset, then using the "Register" option that appeared after entering in my WiFi network credentials.
I'm generally ambivalent about "cloud" services and hadn't used "mysqueezebox.com", but I decided to try out the free Pandora access after picking up a few more SBRs and having one of my brother's tell me that I should. Prior to this I have always run my own media server, as this was my original motivation for purchasing a Slim Devices SliMP3 (which I still have). In order to do the free Pandora, I had to set up a mysqueezebox.com account and get all of the devices registered, as well as connect up my Logitech Media Server. I think that with virtually any other vendor, trying to get a 10-year+ end of sales product up and running with its old cloud support and a free streaming service would have been impossible.
As an example, a few years back (2016) my home media players were languishing, and I surveyed the market to find a high-quality, full-bit-rate product line that I could buy into and use to rebuild for home listening. I settled on the Lenbrook Bluesound line due to their relationship with PSB and NAD, as I have and enjoy a PSB speaker-based home theatre setup. I bought a PowerNode N150 (player with amplifier) along with PSB speakers and a subwoofer, and a Pulse (all in one player/speaker/amplifier). Not cheap. Imagine my surprise when just out of warranty, the PowerNode stopped working due to failed capacitors. Lenbrook/Bluesound's offered remedies were a) a $630 repair price, 30% off list for a new current generation unit, or 1/2 price for a "B stock" original generation unit (which could fail in two years as far as I knew based on my experience to date). Contrast this with my current set of 12+ year old Logitech Squeezebox Radios, all of which are functioning just fine, along with the Logitech Media Server (far more flexible and customizable than Bluesound's offering), and Logitech continuing to support "mysqueezebox.com". There is no comparison in my mind.
[For those who care, I replaced the Bluesound Powernode N150 with: Raspberry Pi4B 2GB running piCorePlayer ($45 + $16 case), Khadas Tone1 (ToneBoard) USB DAC ($80 + $20 case), and Monoprice Unity 100 watt amplifier ($100) - money much better spent]
