    Hi Michael,

No, the 'Show in My Apps menu' only changes the location of the Triode Spotify in the LMS menu structure. When enabled, the Triode Spotify app will be available from LMS\My Apps\Spotify, when disabled the Triode Spotify app will be available from LMS\Radio\Spotify.
It doesn't change anything in the Triode Spotify app itself.
It does work around the problem that there can be only one active Spotify app under the LMS\My Apps\ menu...

    Best regards,
    Dennis.

But it will at the same time allow the official plugin to be accessed
from the My Apps menu. Isn't this what you want to achieve?

There is no need to update the Triode plugin.
If you use the "Show in My Apps" setting to NOT show the Triode plugin in "My Apps" then it won't override the new MySqueezebox.com "App" and both will be shown - Michael's version under "My Apps" and Triode's under "Radios". In those UIs that allow reordering the menu items you might even be able to show them both in the same menu.

The two plugins integrate so if you have Triode's plugin installed and running you can actually use Michael's new implementation to browse and play Spotify - even on an old Squeezbox, iPhone/Android player or other software players. This just works.

Nice. I never tried that. But I just selected a playlist using the official app yet I'm playing it on my Transporter (triode's plugin also installed in LMS of course).

No music since the app update

Since updating to the new app on my Squeezebox Radio, I have been unable to listen to any music on Spotify at all.

I have verified my username and password through mysqueezebox.com and I can access my playlists and the new suggestions through the Spotify app.
However, when I click on any track or album, I just get the album art and never any music. Even worse, after trying to use Spotify I cannot even list to radio streams again without a full reboot of the radio.

I don't think this is a buffering issue, as I have tried both low and high bandwidth settings and have a generally fast connection.

The previous app had intermittent problems (sometimes tracks failing to load, sometimes causing a radio reset), but it worked more often than not until the update this week.

I don't have any other Spotify plugins installed.

Please let me know what information you require in order to debug the problem. Thanks in advance.

Great job, the addition of the genres is really welcome. Next best thing to having the Spotify radio function.

Go to mysqueezebox.com, remove the Spotify credentials (not the app!) and enter them once again.

i've just tried that and it hasn't helped. I don't think it's an authentication issue as I am clearly logged in to my account and can see my playlists.

                    UPDATE

OK spoke too soon - I got music just after submitting this post. It took 4 minutes from clicking to playing, but I can live with that for now. I'm still puzzled how I can authenticate sufficiently to see my playlists, but not enough to play them.

As you're running LMS, go to Settings/Advanced/Logging and set plugin.spotifylogi to debug. Try to play a few Spotify tracks, then send the server.log to michael ät slimdevices dott com.

That's indeed not obvious, but unfortunately we have to deal with it.

Here's the gory details: we use two different ways to talk to Spotify. There's the web API, which allows for all the browsing. And when it comes to playback, we're relying on libspotify built in to the player's firmware. They're totally independent and unfortunately use totally different ways to authenticate. Their new web API doesn't allow us to be used with your username and password, but requires that additional step where you have to go through their web based authentication. And libspotify can't play using the token provided by the web API... We could probably overcome this by updating the player firmware. Alas, that's not going to happen.

It's interesting to hear some of the gory details (for some of us anyway!). Thanks for the help and the development work - even though buffering is very slow, the new app seems much more stable for me than the old one.

Yes, thank you very much for the easy update. I'm so glad the new update allows me to stream on my Boom which is connected to a subwoofer! (now if we could do something about the Sirius app issue).

If you have not done this already. Try this setting "Stream through Proxy". It helps on a lot of buffering issues.
