      Best Debut Album

      >Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club. Great songs, great backing
      >band, great production. Who knew that "Texas" rhymes with "suspected"?

That wasn't actually her debut album. There was an album produced before that, self-titled, that was so poor it was scrapped by the record label.

Both great calls but on the subject of difficult second albums, wasn't Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie a stinker of the highest order? :-)

That should be a new thread: Worst follow up to best debut album. Counting Crows might be in the running.

Well if you're comparing Recovering the Satellites to Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie then I'll see you behind the bike shed after School :-)

                    Herbie Hancock - Takin' Off

Sticking to the single item 'Best' premise as by default every artist has only 1 debut album so that has to be the best.

agree. I've seen Lyle many times over the years, in about every configuration (from sitting around with other singer/songwriters playing acoustic to full large band shows). And he always puts on a great show. I saw him last year with large band and the show just blew me away. He and the band members were obviously having the time of their life playing together. He obviously loves what he does and if he's burnt out or jaded from years of playing, he certainly hides it very well.
