I have heard a needle drop of The Wall and in "The Happiest Days Of Our Lives" immediately after the line "Hurt the children any way they could" there is meant to be the sound of a bone breaking but I couldn't hear it in the needle drop. I have finally got around to listening to my vinyl copy and the sound is definitely there. So my theory is that the noise reduction used has removed the sound of the snap 🤦♂️

Out of interest can you run it through VinylStudio and advise whether that is as bad - i wouldn't expect it to harm the music at all?

Vinyl Studio has something they call Percussion Protection which seems quite effective. You still get cases like this but whether it is audible is another matter.

Yes. That's why the click removal numbers differed so wildly. VS is a more developed product.

There are 5 levels of click removal in Wave Corrector default being 3. You can also tell it to ignore clocks below a particular level. Probably messing around with those settings would give better results. The developer does say that if you see multiple clicks close together they are often false positives caused by percussion or low frequency brass instruments. There are three annoying long duration pops at the end of Eclipse which I find hard to separate from the music by examining the waveform and Wave Corrector missed them completely. I'll check them in VS later. I even tried cleaning it to see if that removed them but it didn't. More trial and error might successfully remove them.

I have one album that I made a terrible mistake with and used rubbing alcohol on which resulted in several pops when playing. I was hoping that this "vinyl clear" would fill the holes and quiet down the pops but it sounds like it's just another disc cleaner.

I have a couple of those discwashers brought probably in the 80's. The brushes are fine, but I was wary about using 40 year old solution, so I have been using this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I could not find vinyl clear here in the US at a reasonable availability/price.

Not sure about the effects of the alcohol, have you tried looking at the grooves under something like a USB microscope? Compare them to a good LP? Might indicate damaged or just dirty.

The one other thing that I wonder about, in the 80's I used to use a "zerostat" antistatic gun which took away alot of the pops. Can't find it so it's lost/tossed. Not sure if they are widely used today.

I finally finished messing around with Wave Corrector 🤣. After my first transfer to LMS I thought it sounded a bit off. I then realised that when I was processing "On The Run" I had hidden the clicks rated lower than 5 to had failed to remove some of the percussion destroying click repairs 🤦♂️. I went back in and removed what seemed like 100s of click repairs manually until I was happy. The final result sounds as good if not better than any of the digital versions I have heard. I found a review where the reviewer compared a later UK Harvest pressing (presumably similar to mine) to the 2003 SACD. He said "while the UK Harvest was somewhat richer in the mids and not quite as 'hot' on top, this deluxe, well packaged reissue is worth having even if you have a clean original". I'll settle for richer mids and no hot top end thanks very much 😄
