yea, surprising, as their three previous downloads offered for free were in FLAC (Live - first album, Williamsburgh, and Flood).

btw - there is a real interesting video for "You're on Fire", a tune that once its in your head, takes some time for it to leave - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlGN...el=ParticleMen

      • I've been playing Heavy Rocks by Boris - arrived this week, gold vinyl. Also available on all the usual streaming platforms. I seem to have developed a bit of a soft spot for Boris, this is a more straightforward heavy outing by the band. They have been ridiculously productive over the years.

I've been listening to new folkish music, from relative youngsters and oldsters.

The Watkins Family Hour Vol. 2 features Sarah and Sean Watkins, and a host of guests -- Fiona Apple, Jackson Browne, Lucius, others. I particularly like the Lucius opener, a kind of heavenly choir sort of thing. Lots of great playing, but it's all kind of gentle. See a review at https://variety.com/2022/music/news/...ra-1235346640/.

The oldster is Loudon Wainwright III, who is 75, even older than me. His new album, Lifetime Achievement, is vintage Loudon, well performed and sung (I don't think his voice has gotten any worse over time), and full of humor and trenchant observation. He's a treasure

I'll admit I almost always tilt toward younger artists these days, but both of these are great recordings.

I appreciate that they offer a lossless version on these (WAV which I then convert to FLAC and clean up tagging). Good stuff, but only part way through the first one. Always an interesting band.

Humor and irony are always part of the equation . What I always thought was so cool, is they got to the age where they had kids, and switched to doing educational albums for years. Here comes science, here come the abc's, etc. The bonus being not only were they educational, the music remained fantastic with educational content. Very listenable even for those of us that know the a,b,c's

Another approach is (1) make sure files are in track order, (2) use tools autonumbering wizards, then (3) select all files, choose CONVERT, then "filename to tag", with mapping of %dummy% %title%. Then for all files add the album name, artist name, year of album, genre. Either approach is easy!

That's what I did last time [emoji2]. This time the process was complicated for both methods as the track titles.on disc 1 were inconsistent so wouldn't appear in track order.

I hear you. That's why I had to use the track numbering and %dummy%. With the prior files, I could skip the track numbering and just use mapping of %track% %title%.
