  • Soundwalk Collective - Kreatur - it's a soundtrack that uses a lot of field recordings made in factory spaces. Another of those things I find via Bandcamp.

    • Picked this up yesterday at an actual record shop, Nils Frahm All Melody. Double vinyl, with hi-res download (annoyingly untagged wav, soon rectified!)

            • GAS - Rausch - more ambient-ish techno from Wolfgang Voigt. Double vinyl with download - which is a single 60 minute track, unlike the Spotify stream (and the vinyl, obviously).

I saw him perform Rausch at BigEars this year with a big screen psychedelic video.
I wanted to close my eyes and drift off ( it was a midnight show ) but the video was very cool.

Indeed! Fine album by one of my favorite musicians. Reminiscent of some of his recordings from the seventies and eighties. Good to see son Joachim stepping in as producer.

American Flowers by Birds of Chicago

Solid melodic superbly performed old-fashioned folk music wih a message, wouldn't be out of place in the folk world of the 60s. This performance (YouTube, below) seems to be the actual performance recorded for the EP. Ace guitarist/producer Steve Dawson and wonderful vocalist/instrumentalist Rhiannon Giddens supporting.

                    • I'm listening to A Journey by Ché-SHIZU. It's on the Los Angeles based label Black Editions who are re-releasing albums from the Japanese label PSF. So far, this has included LPs from High Rise, Keiji Haino and the Tokyo Flashback compilation. Interesting stuff.

Thanks for listening to this! I have been listening to so much of the older music lately Charlie Parker, Art Pepper, Clark Terry, that I had forgotten about this. John is really good on the Harp on several of these cuts.

Yes, one of my favorites from Mayall's catalog. Shortly after this came out I remember going to see Blue Mitchell with a small combo in Toronto, at George's Bourbon Street on Queen. Good show.
