Directory for High Quality Web Radios?

Hi all,

Couldn't we create a directory for high quality web radios? (except if there is one already... or if not useful...), I mean >> MP3 320K!
Not so easy to find a lot of them...

At Community Radio Browser (https://www.radio-browser.info/#/) you can enter "bitrate >= 320" as a search term to get a list of stations. You can also combine that with other search terms for types of content.

The site is not necessarily up to date, since it depends on user input. But it may be a good start toward what you want.

Thanks for the link which seemed correct but I couldn't actually find what I was looking for and I have not even been able to enter "bitrate >= 320" somewhere (I am probably a bit simple minded...)
I am not really looking for thousands of almost useless radios (maybe useful for other people) but a few tens being high end (aac/flac/ogg with high throughput rates) and that you can listen to during hours without getting tired...

I will try again!

If you only want a few tens - no need for a directory - I suggest create a Topic asking for suggestions with your criteria - forums users usually have personal lists.

Make sure topic title is simple & clear.

You may not need to fall back on this if bpa's suggestion works for you, but if you want to try this again, this may help. Here is the top of the page I see when I go to the URL https://www.radio-browser.info/#/ on my desktop browser (reduced to half size):



The search field is at far right. You should be able to enter criteria there.

On a mobile browser, I just see "RadioBrowser" at top left and a 3-line menu button at top right. Clicking the button displays a dropdown menu, with all the options in my screenshot stacked vertically and the search field at the bottom.

You can see the filters I have selected.

Once you start entering anything in the search field, you will get guidance showing you the options available. For instance, after typing 320, all I had to do was select "bitrate>=320" from a dropdown list. The same with Classical; I selected "tag=Classical" from among several options.

The resulting list has 27 stations.

The interface to this site is very clunky, and a lot of options do not work as intended on my browser, if they work at all. (The author makes it clear that design is not his strength and I think he has asked for assistance.) What has worked for me is to click on the "save" button for a station, which opens a player in another browser tab. The stream URL can be copied from that tab.

I do sometimes find the site useful, but using it can be a frustrating experience.

The table always truncates the last field in my Firefox browser and I find I have to set the Firefox View/Style setting to "No Stile" to avoid having to use the slide bar to view the last field in the table.

I also use:

https://jazzgroove.org

A great jazz flac (requires subscription/donation) radio resource with five channels. I do find that this tends to crash squeezelite on my pCp if I inadvertently leave it running over night.

I am not sure how current this is, how many are still alive, but I have picked a few FLAC stations from this discussion in the past:

For example, JB Radio 2, which was one of my all time favorites, is now dead

Also, in a dark, mostly inaccessible part of my brain, I seem to remember (or think I remember?) that there was a way, within sb "radio" (which would be tune in?) to set a minimum quality (bitrate) on a search. I think someone on this forum told me about it? I'll take a look in my early posts...
