I used to think John Mayer was pretty awesome, and although I still enjoy his music (mainly the earlier albums like Room for Squares, Heavier Things, etc) I don't know if I'd consider him in this category (but TBF I have not listened to his most recent post-2010 work)... In some ways to me he's like Chris Isaak (who I also enjoy) - both are a little 'paint by numbers' as musicians IMO.Hi-Fi 1: QNAP HS-453DX NAS+QLMS/Allo USBridge Signature+Shanti LPS/Cirrus ESS Sabre 32-bit Reference DAC (Oppo 105D)/Yamaha Aventage CX-A5000/Focal SM9s.

Riverside, a Polish progressive rock band. Sadly the original lead guitarist who was obviously a Dave Gilmour fan died a couple of years ago.

Discovered this on NPR a few years back. It was released in 2010 and I think it's their only full album. There is an EP, but most of the songs are on this album. It has a flapper / burlesque kind of sound, but I'd put it under Pop/Rock. All songs were written by April Smith and boy howdy, can she sing! If not 5 stars it comes awfully close.
April Smith and the Great Picture Show - Songs for a Sinking ShipMain system - Rock Solid with LMS 8.3.1 on WHS 2011 - 2 Duets ( both WiFi, farthest unit gets 60% signal strength and always works since new power supply) and Squeeseslave
Cabin system - Rock solid with LMS 8.3.1 on Win10 Pro - 1 RPi 3 Model B (WiFi) /Hifiberry DAC+ Pro/PiCorePlayer and Squeezeslave
Squeezebox Boom - "At Large" player around both home and cabin
Headphones and car - Android phone/Bluetooth w/full library on MicroSD card - PowerAmp music player app (similar to Material Skin)

I can second GoGo Penguin and Riverside being mentioned here. Have seen both two times now and would always go again.
It's hard to limit myself to only three artists. But if I'd have to these would be my favorites (I'm also mentioning country, main instruments, genre)
Michael Wollny (de, p, jazz)
Nils Frahm (de, p/kb, electronica/ambient)
Anna Ternheim (se, voc/gt, singer-songwriter)
Here are some more that would also nicely fit (in alphabetical order):
Ólafur Arnalds (is, p/var., classical/electronica/ambient)
Courtney Barnett (au, voc/gt, indie-rock)
Ane Brun (no, voc/gt, singer-songwriter)
Tina Dico (dk, voc/gt, singer-songwriter)
Mathias Eick (no, tr/var., jazz)
Ben Howard (uk, voc/gt, singer-songwriter)
London Grammer (uk, voc/var., indie-pop)
Ibrahim Maalouf (lb/fr, tr, jazz)
Agnes Obel (dk, voc, singer-songwriter)
Martin Tingvall (se, p, jazz)
Nils Wülker (de, tr, jazz)
