My Apps do not show up? Help Please

I can't get my apps to show up in the My Apps menu in LMS. I have been working for two days on this trying to figure it out. I am not sure if it is a port I need to forward or something else. I read a post that said I needed to forward ports 3483 and 9000 to my LMS computer. I have forwarded those ports but the apps still don't show up. I am running it on linux in a VortexBox. I have Pandora, radioio, SHOUTcast, and Live Music Archive, installed in My Apps in the mysqueezebox.com site, I put the same user name and password in the mysqueezebox.com tab in LMS Settings. I don't get an error but it does refresh the page and return with a blank password field. Then nothing shows up in the My Apps menu. If anyone has any ideas please post them.
    Thanks,
    GeoffQ

sounds exactly like a DNS error. unplug players, turn off computer running LMS, turnoff (unplug) router. Then turn on router, let fully start, then turn on computer let start and LMS fully start. Then plugin/repower SB players and let find LMS.

Thanks for responding Gary, I have done my best to check out the DNS error and I don't think that is it. I am pinging mysqueezebox.com successfully from the command line of the VortexBox which is what is running the LMS Server. I am using a remote browser interface to view and control LMS is it possible the information from mysqueezebox.com has to forwarded to the laptop I am browsing from and not the VortexBox? I need to be able to view and play Pandora from LMS.

Thanks for any help you can give.

can't recall the detail, but one port is how LMS talks to the outside world (internet) and another port is how the players talk to LMS. Re laptop and vortexbox. I have LMS and my music on my vortexbox. My laptop is simply talking to LMS *on my vortexbox* via the browser looking at, in my case, "192.168.1.15:9000" which is the IP address of the vortexbox. The laptop *should be* irrelevant. It is just acting as a controller (no different from ipeng on an iphone). But you do need to make sure that you are not somehow mixing things up (that is, you do NOT have LMS running on your laptop itself). Because you can have LMS on your laptop and on your Vortexbox (well, you can have as many instances of LMS running in your house as you have computers....but you should give each music library a different name, AND you can only connect your players to one of these at a time).

That is exactly how I am connecting. I do not have it running on my laptop just on the VortexBox. Internet radio works just fine I just can't get my apps to show up in the menu. Having to forward ports to get this to work is over most peoples heads I can't believe I should have to that. If I do that is fine I can I just need to figure out how the rule needs to be written to make this work.
          Thanks,
          Geoff

you shouldn't have to do anything with ports. Only if you have some unusual anti-virus setup or router setup. For me (without any intervention to my basic router), within 5 minutes of unpacking my VBA, I plug my Vortexbox into power, plugin the ethernet cable, access LMS via the webage and give it my "mysqueezebox.com" credentials in LMS > Settings, and I can listen to any of the music services that I've setup at mysqueezebox.com (Pandora, MOG, siriusXM, etc.). Plug and Play. So something is obviously odd with your setup, but I can't figure out what. Seems to definitely be something that is keeping your VB from communicating with mysqueezebox.com, given that it is apps that are not working.

It is always something with me. Nothing is ever simple. I would wipe it out and reload it if I thought it would work but I am suspicious that it is something not in the VortexBox. If I loaded LMS on my laptop and gave it my mysqueezebox.com credentials should it populate my apps? Do I have hook it up to a physical player to make it work? I only use the VortexBox.
              Geoff

Does your VortexBox show up as a player on the mysqueezebox.com website?

Does your VortexBox show up as a player on the mysqueezebox.com website?
I have the built in "vortexbox player" turned off in the Vortexbox WebGUI (as I don't want to use it for anything). So I wouldn't see this on mysb.com (although when I forget after a reboot and it stays on, I do see it as a "player" within ipeng and my other controllers.

Ok, a good test would be: 1. install LMS on your laptop. 2. add a few files to your laptop in a subdirectory and point to that as your "music directory" within LMS (and give this an obvious name, like "laptop LMS" on that screen, 3. setup the laptop LMS with your mysb.com credentials (in LMS > SETTINGS > Mysqueezebox.com tab). 4. Then turn off your VBA so it is not showing up at all. Then in a SB hardware player go into the menu and select my music. should offer up this new laptop LMS as a source...may have to scroll down a bit on the menu so see the option to "switch library"

So now you'd be using LMS on the laptop, it should be talking to your mysb.com account, and your apps should be showing up in the menu (like pandora, etc.)

wait, are you saying you don't have a hardware SB player (a touch, a radio, an SB3 or something). Pandora doesn't work with software SB players as far as I know, without some special hacking possibly.

and by the way, live music archive is broken at the moment and not working on squeezebox for anyone.

Yeah no hardware player just the vortexbox. I know it works there are other people doing this but no one has had this problem. What the end goal is for an RTI XP processor to control the vortexbox player and display all the pandora stations and metadata on all the remotes and touchscreens.
                      Thanks,

got it. You should post on the vortexbox forum about how to get this to work in the VB Player subforum. I know that Pandora won't work on software players like SqueezePlay (which I use on my Win7 machine at work as a player). But perhaps there are some hacks that make it work with VB player as a software player. Good luck.

My (admittedly fuzzy) recollection is that paid Pandora accounts (aka Pandora One) work on software players such as SqueezePlay, and possibly the Vortexbox player.

In the US a Pandora One subscription is $36/year or $4/month and has no commercials. Pandora One streams at 192kbps to the Pandora web-based player, but only 128kbps to Squeezeboxes. I imagine streaming to the Vortexbox player would also be at 128k, but I'm not sure about that.

Yes, the LMS web UI will populate the installed MySB.com Apps if your LMS has the proper MySB.com login credentials. You can also run any number of LMS servers simultaneously on your network, then switch your players between them as desired. But when you select an App within the LMS web UI it will only give an error message if no player is recognized. This is all a lot easier with a hardware player.
