    Happy Christmas!

What is the compatibility situation between LMS and the Roku/Pinnacle Soundbridge units.

    Cheers

    Tony

    Hi Tony,

I have been able to browse and stream my music library from LMS 7.7 (and 7.6) to my Soundbridge M1001. This is not my normal setup, as the Soundbridge is in retirement in favor of the Squeezebox Touch. However, it does work. If you have any specific questions, I can try to answer them.

    Cheers!

    Greg

Thanks for that. Do you know if all the Soundbridge models work is it just the M1001?

Are you asking about whether Soundbridge still works with SB1 emulation or whether it now works as a DLNA player ?

I don't have any experience other than with the M1001. You might ask on the Roku forums. If you already have a Soundbridge, it is easy enough to download and install LMS in order to try it.

Now I've looked up what DNLA means, and noticed that LMS has a UPNP/DNLA plugin, I think I'm asking both. Do all Soundbridge models do SB1 emulation and are there disadvantages with exploiting the DNLA plugin?

DLNA would be the "Native" way Soundbridge worked - typically with WMP, twonky and TVersity etc. Plugins are not accessible through DLNA so no iPlayer, etc.

SB1 emulation was only on Roku M1000, M1001, M2000. IIRC The 50, Radio or Pinnacle did not have the emulation. Emulation of SB1 also meant everything was transcoded into WAV (possibly Flac) or MP3. The native WMA capability of Soundbridge was not used as SB1 did not have WMA.

Not all plugins will work with SB1 emulation for example Spotify.

Sorry to hijack this thread - but seems to be the only relevant one on the forum.

I've just bought a Logitech Touch - and have an old Soundbridge (Pinnacle version). Seeing that it supports the slimserver I thought I would have a go at plugging it in to the Logitech Media Server. When I try to connect it just says failed.
Greg you said you got it working - did you have to do anything particular to do so?

Ultimate aim would be to control the soundbridge through the Logitech Server.

                Thanks,
                Ben

Despite what I've found elsewhere my M400 SoundBridge has suddenly started working - for about 30 mins. Now very intermittent.
The Logitech Media Server will not however recognise it as a player - despite it been connected...

Assuming you are using the Touch standalone (i.e. no PC based LMS) even if the Pinnacle had SB1 emulation - IIRC the Touch standalone does not support SB1 or DLNA plugin.

If you had a separate LMS server - then you can probably use LMS' DLNA with the M400.

Was wanting to use Touch standalone but using PC based LMS at the moment.
It is now working through the PC - I assume this is through DLNA? Although I have not "enabled" this?
Without the emulation is there no way for the player to be recognised / controlled from LMS?

Makes sense that it wouldn't be - just frustrating to be seemingly so close!

I think the DLNA is enabled by default - look at WebUI Settings/Plugins and check UPNP plugin status.

I think LMS does not implement the DLNA control point to remotely control DLNA renderers.

Thanks for your help - yes I have found it - under UPNP and it is enabled by default - so that must be how it is working.
So you don't know of any other work around for controlling it via LMS?

                          Thanks again.

If it is connecting as a DLNA device then no you cannot control it (or even see it) on the LMS web UI.
You might try some third party program like PlayOn? I think that might work as a GUI go between, between DLNA server & player.
Never messed with DLNA music players myself so it's just a guess.

                              Pinnacle soundbridge radio

                              Hi,

I to have a "Pinnacle Soundbridge Radio", this was playing music from my netgear pro nas with the stock slimserver onboard. I've just installed the latest version of the server 7.7.2, now this tells me that "My player needs to upgrade it's software", by pressing "brightness" then "Select" then "Play", it keeps telling me it's completed, the goes on to tell "My player needs......etc." and this just keeps going around in circles.

                              What is going on?

How am I to play my music?

                              Thanks

                              Ian.
