  • lost playlist on rescan after install of latest version

Hi i've been running squeezcenter for some time, running fairly smoothley. I was looking for an easier way to creat playlists, (see other post) so i decided against my better judgement (if it aint broke, dont fix it!)to install the lastest version of squeezcenter, version 7.5.1. After doing a complete rescan, it did'nt find any of my playlists. All my music and playlist are stored on a W/D 1TB hard drive and on the old version a complete rescan of music liberary would find all the music and my playlists. I've checked the correct paths are listed etc, tried 3 rescans but no joy. I've checked the harddrive and all the playlists are still there, thankfully! Any ideas? If not can i unistall the lastest version of squeezcentre and reinstall the older version? I just want all my playlists back, please!

    Having same problem

I'm having the same problem: I create and save a playlist in the web UI. The playlist works as expected until I re-scan playlists only. Then the playlist disappears from the (now empty) list of playlists. More troubling is that the alarm that was using that playlist is now completely silent (there seems to be a completely different problem with the backup alarm sound).

The playlist file is in the filesystem where Squeezebox server expects it. The server and scanner logs show nothing amiss. I did discover that Microsoft Security Essentials was interfering with MySQL, but I get the same behavior with MSE off.

    I'm running 7.5.1 on Windows 7.

A long shot there is a bug I though only affected version 7.6 that is that if you have exceptions for m3u or pls files set for your audio files this setting also affect playlist scan even if they should not do that.

You can get all released versions of the server software, including very old versions, from http://downloads.slimdevices.com/ .

But there isn't anything generally wrong with playlists on 7.5.1 -- they work fine for most people so it's something with your setup (and wrecks69's and no doubt some others). What version did you upgrade from? If it was pre-7.4.x then it could be a permissions issue, since the username that SBS runs under changed between 7.3.x and 7.4. Or maybe something wrong with how you specified the playlist folder. It's hard to say with such little info.

            Same issue for different user

I have exactly the same issue. After multiple rescans, the playlists continue to show "Empty." I have double checked the file locations--all is well. I am using version 7.5.1/r30836 with iTunes (for playlists) version 10.1.056. The operating system is XP.

The scanner log is as follows:

So far the OP hasn't indicated using iTunes for playlists. So your problems may or may not be the same issue, because iTunes introduces another variable. I don't use iTunes for playlists, so I can't offer any help on that.

Fyi, the "images" in your log file are the forums software converting ordinary Perl code (such as a : next to a DBI) into annoying emoticons. You can avoid that in the future by putting the log output inside code brackets in your post. Start with the word "code" inside square brackets (no quotes) and end with "/code" inside square brackets (no quotes).

                Good luck.

I would also check that the playlist directory is actually set in sbs and if not investigate from there ?

This directory has it any foreign characters in the name ?

                    Checked the file designation

I checked to make sure the playlists location is properly designated and then pointed to the correct file again. So SBS is pointed to iTunes playlists--just can not seem to find them in the re-scan process.
I was doing ok until I downloaded the latest iTunes (version 10).
                    Problem continues.

                    Thanks for your inputs,

                      Same problem here

                      I'm having this same issue.

I am on 7.5.3 on a Windows 2003 server and the SqueezeBox Server process is running under the administrator user.

I have a standard installation with no additional plugins and no itunes support.

I have approx 11000 audio files and SS scanned these and indexed with a few issues but I've been playing them back fine and had created a few playlists.

I've tried converting existing playlists that worked under Twonky to work with SS by modifying the paths within them and gone so far as to using a bulk renaming utility to strip out all dashs from my music collection as research suggested this could be a problem, however I have still not been able to import any existing playlists by doing a rescan.

Further to this the playlists I have created in the WebUI, which I have saved in the configured playlists path of 'd:\music\playlists' are no longer picked up by SS, the scanner.log indicates it sees them but does not import them into the database.

To try and narrow down the issue I have re-installed SS, wiped the cache, set my music base folder to be just one folder out of the collection, so it is now 'd:\music\abba' instead of 'd:\music', now there are only now 19 tracks in my collection according to SS.

I created a playlist containing all these tracks and saved it as a file as well.

The playlists works fine until I try to do any sort of scan and then it disappears from the db. The .m3u file created by SS is still in the playlists folder and the scanner and server logs suggest that the rescan has found the file ok but nothing has been imported into the db.

Unless there are some deeply hidden settings somewhere I fail to see what's going wrong.

The administrator user has full control over the folders involved and there is no av software installed on the server to interfere.

I've just tried the rescan again to get a clean log file:

                      Code:

Looks like similar problem here except I have Itunes support enabled, and Itunes playlist importer is failing. Rather than starting a new thread....

Running latest build (v7.5.4, r32171) on on Windows xp with latest Itunes 10.2.1.1
