  • Player menus are odd, broken or missing on fresh 8.3.1 install

Folks, I just did a completely fresh install of 8.3.1. on a fresh Windows device.

Now I noticed that the menus I configure don't show up properly in the LMS UI. In fact, different players seem inconsistent even with the same menu setup. Odd is that the squeezeboxes DO follow the menu structure I configure, just the LMS UI doesnt.

Here is an especially strange example:

Bear in mind that player shows the menus as expected, the way I set them up on the right. But none of the LMS UIs do.

I am connected to MSB.com with setting sync enabled (which doesn't seem to do anything btw), but I deleted all players on msb just to be sure LMS isn't picking up stale configs from the cloud.
It impacts ALL players connected, but each a little differently.

My old LMS shows the menus as expected, just as I customize them. Only this new install doesn't.

Any ideas how I can get LMS to show the menus I like?

Those on the right are player menu items, specifically Classic, Boom, Transporter.

You may need to install the "Additional Browse Modes" plugin to arrange the LMS UI menu items.

LMS GUI menu items are per player.

I reset one of the "offending" player's settings - and I got some of the menus back: but they are still off:

That being said, the menus I need ARE there... just not where they used to be / not according to my menu config.
So based on "if it works don't fix it" I'm going to leave it at that.

When did this (IMHO confusing default) behavior change?

I'll repeat what I said in my previous response.

The menu items in your player "Menus" settings are for the player display only, they do not alter the home menu items in the LMS web interface.

In my example below I have removed all the menu items from my classic display except "Now Playing", this has no effect regarding what is displayed in the LMS web UI.

To change/arrange the home menu items in the LMS web UI, you need to install the "Additional Browse Modes" plugin. You can have different menu items displayed for each of your players.

        Mine below.

          I hear you.

I've used LMS for ... ever. And can't remember this behavior - which first showed up after I did a clean install on a new server. The WebUI used to follow the player menus exactly.

In any case, the behavior obviously changed by design. So I'll leave it at that.
(Personally, I prefer as few menus and as little setup as possible. Configuring menus for the WebUI on top of the players is ...tedious.)

            I don't think it's changed at all.

I've just done a fresh LMS install on a spare Raspberry Pi, the default menu items for my Classic (Slim Devices SB3) player and web UI are shown below.

I suggest you clear your browser's cache, or try a different browser.

It doesn't matter what browser or device or client (ie Android app) I use. It's always the same. You are correct: The WebUI and Player menus now diverge and are almost impossible to align. But I understand this is "by design" - and as long as I can get the menus I need on the top level, I'm good.

              Thanks!
