Connect nas music folder to my logitech media server on proxmox

    Hello,
I put on proxmox a vm with a nas xpenology and a ct with logitech media server. I would like to know how to connect my music library from my nas (on vm) with my logitech media server (on ct).
    could you help me?
    THANKS

LMS needs to be able to see the folders/files ... so you have to mount the storage system.
Are the folders available via NFS or SMB?

Excuse me for asking, but what is a "ct"?

          Ct is a container (lxc)

Maybe your setup is a tad bit too complicated?...

                Hi,

Thanks for the info but I'm not very good at it. I thought it would be easy but no I tried what you said but I don't think it worked. Can you post more detailed screenshots?
Just a clarification, I installed LMS via Docker.
                THANKS

I suspect that the music library in the NFS share on the NAS does not have the correct permissions. In my experience setting the correct permissions are often a struggle with Linux systems... I don't use a NAS, but this Help Page for LMS on piCorePlayer may help you. The pCP Help Page links to following Synology Help Page.

PS: I would expect that a person who installs a NAS in a VM and LMS in Docker would have no problem with solving permission issues (just kidding).

By default NFS exposes as root.root so it’s not likely to be permissions at the NAS end.

The piCorePlayer documentation referred to above explains how to set up the NAS side but the question is can the LMS Docker even see the VM let alone mount it?

I thought the same. Less the kidding...

When the NAS exposes an NFS share to the network, does it matter if the NAS is running in a VM? I would not expect so.

No it wouldn’t unless the rest of the network can’t see it and particularly the Docker instance.

it is as both you and Michael suggest not something that should be even contemplated if you don’t know Jack sh!t about Linux

                              Oh man, ...
This goes way beyond LMS and NAS interactivity, this is Proxmox best practices: When using Docker for LMS on Proxmox, with music files on a separate XPenology NAS VM you should have your pve-node and 2 VM's: the XPenology + whatever flavor of Linux you'd like to use for your LMS-docker. Don't use docker directly on your pve-node to run an application server.
This is overkill however, as Xpenology already has docker integrated, so you can easily run the LMS docker inside XPenology, and access to the music is then handled through the "volumes:" parameter in your docker-compose.yml or the -v switch on the docker command line.
