    Logitech Media Server 8.3.0 released

Did you check what process was using all the CPU or IO? There really
shouldn't be much of a performance difference between the various 8.x
releases. Maybe the scanner was still busy doing its thing?

    Logitech Media Server 8.3.0 released

I finally released Logitech Media Server 8.3.0. It's mostly a maintenance release without any major new features. Oh, hold on... unless you're a Mac user! Apple provided a good reason to get LMS 8.3.0 out: macOS 13 Ventura removed the Perl version we've relied on for about a decade. So, the new feature is:
    • Support for macOS 13 (native Apple Silicon as well as Intel)

But there are a ton of changes, smaller or bigger. Many of which have been contributed by you guys out there. Thanks a lot!

    A few noteworthy changes:
    • Updated French, British English, Czech, and Dutch translations.
    • Improved indexing performance for the Fulltext Search of large playlists (thousands of tracks).
    • Improved security for the MySqueezebox.com integration.
    • Improved JavaScript support for the Settings pages in the Classic/Light skin (and thus Material).
    • More robust https streaming for some very long (but finite) streams and larger files (hires).
    • ...and so much more you can find in the Changelog

While I was adding support for Apple's latest CPU I decided to also remove some legacy: PowerPC, Sparc, i386 (Mac), and really old Perl versions are no longer part of the builds.

And another note: There might be changes coming to MySqueezebox.com which will require LMS 8.3 or later. It's time to update.

Thanks, Michael. This is great news! No more prodding users of the Denon/Marantz AVR plugin to upgrade. Especially important because I just added more JavaScript code to the plugin's settings menu.

                      I noticed the change log reads: Version 8.3.0 - 2022-10-04 (4e15dbdff)

Since you announced the release today, is that supposed to be October, or should it be November?

Thanks to everyone for their contributions, it is appreciated!!

I could claim I had done too much JavaScript recently, where the month
                        is zero based, while day/year aren't :-D.

Not every method in JavaScript's Date object returns a zero-based number. Here's a tip will help you understand that a little better.

But no, nothing smart. Just a typo. Thanks for the heads up!

Oh wow... and some more outdated information... I never get to see that
page (now would I read the content thoroughly anyway), as I hardly ever
download from MySB. Thanks for the heads up. I've removed some of the
cruft (we removed support for the ReadyNAS years ago).
