Gone batty is right. Fingers were on autocorrect.

I know that would side-step the issue - but it is rare and might even fix things for listeners with other software/hardware if they exhibit odd issues (such as sounding wrong rather than stopping).
Given the reports in other thread that station had varying datarates. I'm double checking - trying to capture the raw GET stream at the time of an error , in case the problem is something else (e.g. bad header, mono vs stereo) interpreted as a rate change.

Someone did say the Station ID sounded speeded up sometimes.

Has anyone tried disabling native MP3 playback?

That would make sense for those player which assume a fixed sample rate

Didn't take long for latest test to show an error - this time 44100 to 8000 !! Not only a sample change but must also be a change from MPEG2 encoding to MPEG2.5 as only MPEG2.5 support 8000Hz
                Code:
                Jun 23 12:30:27 squeezeplay: INFO audio.decode - Playback.lua:448 0.9%/99.7%
                Jun 23 12:30:27 squeezeplay: DEBUG audio.codec - decode_mad_output:386 Sample rate changed from 44100 to 8000, discarding PCM
                Jun 23 12:30:27 squeezeplay: DEBUG audio.decode - Playback.lua:320 status DECODE UNDERRUN
                Jun 23 12:30:27 squeezeplay: DEBUG audio.decode - decode_song_ended:777 decode_song_ended
                Jun 23 12:30:27 squeezeplay: DEBUG audio.decode - decode_song_ended_handler:323 decode_song_ended_handler
                Jun 23 12:30:27 squeezeplay: DEBUG  audio.codec - decode_mad_stop:548 decode_mad_stop()
I also had a WGET in progress in parallel so may have captured the byte stream.

I took a look through my coversearch logs for station ids that appeared to be the end of a listening session ... they were

Steve Hackett of Genesis/GTR - Station ID Blooper
Jamie Glaser and Ferdie the Chinchilla - Station Promo
Greg Walker of Syn-Phonic Records - Station ID
Peter Hammill of Van Der Graaf Generator - Station ID
                  Weendo - Station ID

Many have no problem at all.
I'll add the above list to my email to the station to see if it helps them find something common about them - compared to the rest that seem to work OK.

Some Station IDs are OK so must be 44.1kHz but others aren't, probably recorded on a phone app at various sample rates.

I don't know the timing of the appearance of icy metadata and the associated audio stream.

In the latest error - it was a normal track which preceded the error by 3 mins - how long is the "Renaissance - I Think Of You, from the 1974 album `Turn Of The Cards" track ?

Edit: I am sure @Redrum mentioned that the Station ID sounded speeded up. That would explain why if it was 22kHz played back at 44kHz.

Yes I did, the first day that we were looking at this, on a touch. It stopped immediately after. It sounded like ffwd on a reel to reel

Since then, many hours on a boom - no stoppage.

When I ran my Touch alongside the mpd player the Touch stopped but the Station ID didn't appear in "What was that tune". It did appear as the next track on the mpd player though. So in that case playback stopped before the Station ID track info appeared.

I use mp3wrap on my Windows laptop and for the life of me I have no idea where the output file was saved. I thought it would be in the se folder as mp3wrap.exe but no.

In theory 2 MP3 can be concatenated and it will work but you get two headers which may or may not be ignored.

                                Linux args:
                                mp3wrap outputfile input1 intput 2 ...

mp3wrap renames the output files name to something else (I think it adds WRAP to outputfile) so use the "-v" optyion to see what actually happens.
